during the colorado run my tranny started acting up, it started getting hard to put it into 2nd while down shifting. then when i got back to mboyles place it was hard putting it into any gear.

Also taking it out of any gear
sometimes you have to go forward a little just to get it out of gear.
me and HVAC checked it the next morning and you could put it in reverse and go really slow then push in the clutch and it would catch and stop the truck.

It would also do that in 1st, so on the way home ( close to 300 miles) going up the hills i would actually have to stop and down shift into 2nd and it was still pretty hard.
got home checked/changed the tranny fluid and its a little better but still hard to shift into all gears and does the same thing in 1st and reverse can't down shift into 2nd sometimes

so....what so you guys think it might be?
time for a rebuild or a used tranny?

sorry so long, need to get it fixed for moab. thanks for your help.

Marty, how old is your clutch and slave cylinder? I was having a hard time shifting into a few gears like 1st and R. I had a new clutch installed and a new slave and it took care of my shifting problems.

When my transmission broke, it would barly shift. It felt like I was towing a trailer, the transmission was binding. The damage turned out to be a broken third gear. There was a very small crack inside the part of the gear around where is slides over the shaft. The gear and syncrinsers were replace and that fixed the problem. If I were you I would take to several transmission shops and get estimates. They should be able to tell you if it is a clutch or transmission problem.

I would think it might be the synchros if it is hard to shift.

There is AIR in your clutch system or you have leaky slave or mastercylinder. You need to bleed your clutch system again. I had gravity bleed the system, bleed it and let it sat overnight and bleed it again until you get enough pressure.
