View Full Version : Wheeling in Connecticut
asterus 09-07-2003, 08:00 PM Does anyone here know where I can go wheeling anywhere in this state? Right now I go to CCSU and my friend <he is a jeeper> and I are looking for places to go wheeling around the state. Any information would be appreciated. Also if anyone knows where else to go in the North East we would appreciate it too.

Hi David,
You asked the question I was wondering about. I know there are places in other states but none that I've heard of in CT. :)
EXPLORINAZ 09-10-2003, 12:14 AM Hey guys when i get back to CT im from Waterbury and live in AZ cuz of the Army. I should be back by november we can go looking for wheelin places. I have a job lined up working on Generators so maybe i will get lucky and find some power line roads and stuff. Its a start.
Rx4phun 09-10-2003, 08:57 AM Keep us updates if you find any trails around. That would definitely be cool
Gary
rydinhigh 09-11-2003, 10:28 PM As far as I know there is nothing. If you do find a spot it needs to be privately owned laned. Wheeling on state owned land gets you a nice fine :(
fallintofate 09-14-2003, 11:46 PM it's not in ct but there's a great place to wheel in MA its right off 91 in northampton
asterus 09-15-2003, 12:18 AM Please tell me where in MA I can go wheeling. How far past the border is this place off I-91.

Please tell me you are not joking. I would love to do some wheeling and that is only about a half hour from where I live. Where can I find more info?

yes I did. I was able to get brackets for $75 shipped. Not bad since my total price for steps and brackets was $125 and these things are brand spanking new.
Rx4phun 09-24-2003, 11:05 PM yeah let us know when you want to go
I am up for it

Cool, that would be a whole lot of fun. My Explorer is not modded and I hope my little Sport would be up to the challenge.
I told my brother about this and he might be interested in going too, He has a stock 92 XLT 5-speed. Now if I can get him to finaly join the forum....I've been bothering him for months about it.
agoric875 10-19-2003, 08:52 AM the trail is not that bad, it goes up to a party spot and i've seen civics make it up there...anything for some beer :D...anyways i've been wicked busy these days...later
rydinhigh 10-20-2003, 07:03 PM Ok well when are we going? It would be nice to do it soon before it gets really cold out.

I agree with you Mike, if we wait much longer snow will be on the ground. Northern Connecticut already got their first measurable snowfall this week, and I think that we will have snow in Central Connecticut before Thanksgiving. I think this winter is going to be a bad one.
Now it all depends on when we can all agree on a Saturday that we could go. Sunday mornings wouldn't be good for my brother or me, since we are both in our church's sound ministry and we're in the sound booth 2 out of every three weeks. If we decided on a Sunday, it would have to be after noontime.
You have my number, give me a ring when things get decided. I think Gary is very interested in going too so that would be at least four of us, counting my brother. Maybe we could get some of the other Connecticut members to join us, it would definitely would be so cool.
Later :)

As you can see guys, her bugging has paid off. Would love to go do a little off roading.
agoric875 10-27-2003, 06:44 AM Hey guys, sorry it's taken me so long to post...here's the deal, the place that i spoke of where we could do some wheeling, is i hate to say, out of the question. so if someone can come up with another place to wheel, that would be awesome.

Well, as you can all see, her brother has joined the forum. I would definitely be interested in doing some off roading. If someone can locate a place that is not state owned. Hopefully soon before we start getting substantial amounts of snow (evil white stuff) on the ground.
izackary 11-06-2003, 06:53 PM hey guys, quitcher whining. :p here's your next wheelin destination: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92017 Be there! :)

rfuree11 12-09-2003, 12:20 AM i know of some trails, but im not sure of their legality(one in berlin, some in simsbury/bloomfield area). I know two legal ones, one it very short and neither of them(the known legal ones) are too challenging (my determined friend in this pontiac 1000 made it through the first with a little help from me)
asterus 12-09-2003, 03:28 PM Dirt, I am from Newtown. If you know of any trails that are still in the area, please let me know.
DirtDemon85 12-09-2003, 06:45 PM Asterus, everyday i drive around Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull and Oxford in search of trails. Theres a construction site they are clearing across stevenson damn, not the old gravel pit but alittle father left off the damn, ive been there its a pit they never are working, but my friends tell me there is a bunch of trails up there its over 200 acres so im gonna check it out sometime soon. Other than that ill keep ya informed
asterus 12-10-2003, 12:44 AM let me know how it turns out
DirtDemon85 05-22-2004, 08:19 PM As of right now im one of those "assholes" that goes into the houseing develepments before they are built and tears up the mudd, however there are some Trails. Theres an old Fire Trail that goes on for miles that me and my buddys ride, it gets kinda tight but its all good, theres a gate at the opening but i came across a key. (my little Secret) Anyone else got info feel free to post um lol Cause its boring around here
