Okay I was driving through the yellow light at about 30mph and looked down at the tach and it was at zero. The truck just died and i coasted into a Napa auto parts store. LOL
I bought 5gallons of ultra gas at a gas station that I never go to last night and the truck has been running fine all morning and last night.

After coming to a stop and turning it over it will start for a split second then stall, start for a split second and stall.
I have replaced the fuel filter, pump, and fuel relay about 8,000 miles ago (a year) . The truck turns over like it always has but seems like there is no fuel.
I walked to VIP auto parts and bought thier $30 code scanner (napa doesnt carry those) and did the test. It came back with a 511 (computer) I removed the apten chip and did the test again and it comes back clean with a 111 code. I disconnect the battery for about 15min but I was wondering if by having a capacitor for my stereo if my truck was truly out of power.
anyway....im at a loss for what to try.
Do you think the fuel pump went again??!
The scanner should pick up on any loss of voltage or relay problems....so I guess I will try changing out the pump if nobody has any ideas.

FYI. My girlfriends car died as well last week and I will be changing that fuel pump this weekend as well. SOB!
any thoughts would be great!
Thank you

how is it clean with a 111 code? maybe your chip was causing it?

111= eeeks it wont start!

My Xplorer has been running strong for the past year with no issues and then just dies out at low rpm and wont start....code scanner says everything is ok. I have 1/4 tank of gas, Battery is very strong, fluid levels are fine. The only thing that has been a concern of mine has been the altenater (battery) gauge bouncing around all the time, so I know that it will be checking out soon...could it be the voltage regulator? Wouldnt the scanner pick up all of the electrical parts under the hood? I suck at trouble shooting these things.:(

You might have an alternator that's going bad. Typically all the guages will start acting funny when it happens. You said your battery is good, it could just possibly be that the alternator is not charging your battery when your running it. I remember last year when mine went up, the guages kept on acting like they were possessed. Take your alternator out and get it tested. Chances are it went bad or is going bad.

Rick this forum must have once been good....now you just have punks running it.

I sprayed some starter fluid in the intake and the truck started. So, I will replace the fuel pump.

Sorry Ive wasted time posting here.
