Hey every body I have a 99 X and some one broked into it and stole the driver seat and the intrument panel or "instrument cluster". Nothing else was stolen, the radio still there so are the rims, tires, ect. Anyways I was able to ge a hold of a 2001 X sport that my brother wreck so I have a lot of parts that I can use in the future. "My question is about the intrument cluster" I was looking at it and the only difrerence I see is the color. The on my X was black face with white needles and the wreck X have white face cluster with red-orage needles.
Now the only reason I have not put in the one from the wreck X is because the milage is diferent, my have 65,000 plus miles but the wreck X had oly 10,232.
I know they will fit ok on my X my only concern is the diference in milage.
What is the best action I should take. I know the dealer will charge me an arm and a leg.
WHAT TO DO?

Since it needs to be repaired anyway, it's legal to get a new cluster. All you need to do is get a special permit/sticker that you put under the hood and some other documentation that shows the inaccuracy of the odo. The reading of the old odo, the new one, and the difference. And you have to be sure to disclose this to the next owner.

What I'm saying is you can probably just do the swap yourself and not have to pay someone for the labor or to roll the odo. It would be incorrect, but legal with a permit.

So you have no pieces of the instrument cluster left? The whole thing is gone basically?

Yo espnfreak: For some strange reason all they took was instrument cluster and the driver side seat.
