i am set on what i want...im going to add 32's to my 97 xlt 4wd. im going to do a TT AAL and shackles and a 3"BL.
i have 2 questions:
1) what backspacing should i get? 3.25"?
2) will i need lower gears? i have stupid stock 3.55s
32" is all i want to do...i wont go any bigger....will this be alright to run on?

Lower gears would be almost a must with an automatic. I think you should be good with 4.10s

Drive it around with those gears and see if you like them. Gear swapping is very expensive and i think that if you have 32's now youll just want to go to 33's latter. With all that work you should just go 4.56 to save the money... Do it once..

why would it be a must? is that because of acceleration or because of the transmission getting damaged?

man, do yourself a favor and get 33s from the beginning, you will be so much more satisfied. You may have to trim a little but it will be so much better.

youre probly right....i just parked next to a j**p with 32's on it at work yesterday and did a little comparison. i thought i might be able to get away with not changing gears if i went with 32's.
give me some advice on getting the gears changed...cuz i want to get it done right. thanks!
