View Full Version : Will Aftermarket Fenders get me 33's??

One thing ive been saying is i wish i could lift the "front" of my X another inch or two to fit 33's. Just had a brainstorm...

Would aftermarket fenders allow for 33x12.5" tires?

The height isnt really the problem, its the turning width. So i wasnt sure if this would matter in tire fitting.

If it would work. what fenders should i go for on my 98 Sport? (websites are appreciated on this one)

Yea, i dont think you would have any problem if you used fenders. www.perrysfabnfiber.com

What's your setup now, including wheels?

Don't forget the sawzall in this instance....Much cheaper to trim than add fenders.

4door leaf springs
double AAL
War153 shackles

32x11.5x15 Tires on 15x8 rims w/3.75" backspacing.

Had slight rubbing and trimmed fenders a little. Ever since i have never rubbed- even offroading i dont rub.

Yes, you should be able to clear 33x12.50s easily with fenders in the front, you probably won't need them in the rear, just a teeny bit of trimming.

The rear seems like theres plenty of room.

For the front: should i keep my 15x8 rims or go with 15x10?

You would easily fit 33 with these fenders. I bought mine from Hannemann's. (http://www.hannemannfiberglass.com/) Much better quality and an awesome guy to work with.

The 15x8s will be fine.

So my list is

2 Fenders
4 33" Tires
Paint

Gonna be an expensive endevour!
Im good with my stock 4.10 gears here or no?

*this is tough because i was planning on putting in a new engine (same 4.0 SOHC but w/mods and a 5spd tranny) within a few years..

wishing you had done a 3" bl?

And they sell a 5sp manual that mates to the SOHC?

How hard is the trimming required to fit these? I figure i can afford that now. And i commute 60 miles everday to school so hopefully someone will change lanes without looking and wallaaaa... matt gets new fenders a la insurance de retarted driver :D

Naa.. love the 2" BL.. looks good. If i did 3" id want to fit 35's !!!

I think after the fenders and 33;s ill have the perfect combo for commuting/offroading

You could probably fit a 33 X 10.50 as it sits now...

yea, but width is just as important as height. I like the looks along with the grip of wide tires. 33x10.5 would look wierd. 32x11.5 look cool and perform good. 33x12.5 look and perform awesome. and any larger than that would kill my commute!

FYI: My tires will be AT's not MT's even if i upgrade to 33's

Well, just an FYI, doing the Perry's Fenders is how I got on 33"s... So I'm guessing it would probably work for you too...

Between work and school I probably commute anywhere between 40-60 miles a day with 35" M\Ts, it's not as bad as you might think. I have a 5 spd manual, and 4.10s and i average around 16 mpg. I'm runinng 35x12.5s on 8" rims with basically one more inch of lift than you so you shouldn't have much of a problem with rubbing.

To answer one of your questions: I tried to trim my fenders to better fit my 33s but ended up getting fenders after that didn't work well.

I guess this is the smart thing to do...

ANYONE FROM NJ WITH 33x12.5x15 on similar rims:

Would anyone be willing to meet up a day so i could test fit some 33's? Hell ill bring a sawzaw and see how hard the trimming will be.

This way i can get my car setup for 33's so after i can afford them ill put them on and be good to go.

And, as alec pointed out- ill find out if i NEED the fenders to fit the 33s or if the trimming will work for now.

what kinda 32s do you have? I can trade you my 33x12.5 procomp ATs for your 32x11.5. Trade wheels maybe depending on what you have there.
Gary

OH edit, if you are going to get glass fenders maybe you would be interested in selling me your fenders? DO you still have the flares on too?

they're general grabber APs I dunno what i'm gonna do with them yet, i'm thinking of putting them on for the winter but i'm not sure. Trust me you dont want them they suck offroad, you're better off getting BFG ATs or something along those lines.
