View Full Version : My Maglite Install in Cargo Area (2 Pics, approx. 1.0MB)
MattStarr 10-06-2003, 07:33 PM Well, I finally bought my mounts off line for my 4D Maglite.. Man this is so bright! As you can see in the pictures, its mounted by the glass on the passenger side. I made two very small pilot holes so the screws would set really tight againt the plastic. It's mounted pretty strong, surprisingly. Anyway, I suggest this mod, the whole thing with the flashlight cost less than $30. So now I have light if the situation should arise. Better to be safe, than sorry! Thanks guys!:)

Very good site to do business with. Let us know how it goes man!
AnabolicFrolic 10-06-2003, 07:54 PM i got mine at wal-mart or target.
SO most people should be able to pick them up locally.
I have mine mounted just the same as u, only its on the opposite side (drivers side, rear window)
MattStarr 10-06-2003, 07:57 PM I had to buy them offline b/c none of the stores here in SC carried them. I checked everywhere... walmart, target, home depot, lowes, sports authority...EVERYWHERE!!! I really like how its mounted though, I was very impressed with how well I can turn a screw driver!
aldive 10-06-2003, 08:01 PM I just keep my light in the "map pocket" at the bottom of the drivers side door. Access us easy and cost nada.
MattStarr 10-06-2003, 08:02 PM It doesnt look cool in a pocket though!:o

Not a priority for me.
Further, it is not visible for a would be thief and cannot go flying in an accideny. I would hate to get hit in the head with one of those things.....
MattStarr 10-06-2003, 08:13 PM aldive.... doesnt that flashlight add extra weight and decrease MPG's???:D

What's going on with your spelling today, Al?
Actually, you could point the flashlight lens pointing back, as it's more aerodynamic that way.
aldive 10-06-2003, 08:21 PM About the spellen, the Jawga in me is vomming out.
Of course the lens is pointed backwards......
MattStarr 10-06-2003, 08:37 PM oswap~ thanks for the resize!!.... you mind telling me how to do it for future reference?
MattStarr 10-08-2003, 01:36 PM Oswap~ you going to tell me???:D
RobertF 10-08-2003, 03:02 PM Photoshop? Then go to Image->Image Size. I popped in 400 for the width and clicked ok.
I only get here once a day or so :P Yesterday I was busy mounting my new tires and AAL's
MattStarr 10-08-2003, 03:50 PM Can you use anything else other than Adobe??? Thats an expensive program.. I dont have it.... Unless you wanna let me burn a copy off you.:D

:nono: That would be illegal... I can not condone this or approve of this... Actually yeah I can, I'll admit, I'm guilty of this too. You figure the price you pay for software is ridiculously high. For instance Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Why pay $400 when you can get it for free. But I did not say that.;)
DocVijay 10-08-2003, 04:21 PM If you're a college student, try your bookshop. You can get Adobe stuff for really cheap with the student discount. I got the Digital Media Collection for $550. It includes Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Image Ready and Studio. Great deal. Would have cost almost $2000 separately.
MattStarr 10-08-2003, 04:25 PM You think a broke ass college student has $550 bucks:rolleyes: ....sure........
DocVijay 10-08-2003, 04:42 PM Maybe, maybe not. Anyhow, that was for the whole collection. If you only want Photoshop, or even Photoshop Elements, you can get that for much cheaper than $200.
just download it off kazaa or any other P2P program... it's what I did, Photoshop 7.0 for free ;) it took me around 2 days with my steamy 56k conn. and your at college which usually has some good bandwidth.
MattStarr 10-08-2003, 05:14 PM Thats a good idea!!.... will it work alright or will you need some "registration" code?
The one I DL'ed cmae with the code in a text file.. I can always give you the code if you need it. Or you can download a code by itself in a text file...
MattStarr 10-08-2003, 05:18 PM let me check out iMesh and see what i can find..
Hokie 10-08-2003, 06:17 PM MSPaint works too.. I do everything in Paint b/c i'm too cheap/lazy to get Photoshop
MattStarr 10-08-2003, 06:28 PM Nice.... do i just save them as jpeg's. or will paint only have bmp's?
huskyfan23 10-08-2003, 07:13 PM Photoshop will always be better :D It (MSPaint) will allow you to save as whatever you want, jpg is fine.

88vert 12-17-2003, 11:51 PM No it was sitting on the floor behind my back seats

MattStarr 12-17-2003, 11:59 PM LOL thats great.... well im tired of posting on this thread, just IM me on AOL.... my name is SurferVaBeach.... peace man
Harry5150 12-18-2003, 07:10 PM Mines in the same spot. Faced backwards for aerodynamics. ;)
My windows are tinted so you can't even see it from the outside.
A Wise Guy 12-18-2003, 09:57 PM Instead of mountig my Mag in the highly visible spot next to the window or the uncool spot in the door pocket I just slide it right in on the right side of the driver's seat, between the seat and the center arm rest. Ot is out of sight there, doesn't rattle like I'm guessing it might in the door and is very quick and convienent if you need to grab it quickly. I only had one Police Officer question my strategic mounting/hiding place and he asked what I use the light for. My answer to him was the same thing that you use yours for.....................seeing in the dark.;) ;)
doradexplorer 12-18-2003, 10:15 PM The nice thing about the big mag lights is that they can be used for protection also, and much safer then carrying a billy club/ bat around. THose can get you busted for having a weapon/ concealed wep. but the mag light is a TOOL! So, even if a cop busts you for it, it can easily be fought. but they would have to be really pissed to write a pissant ticket like that that can be thrown out so easily.
I had my mag beside the seat/armrest in my old truck, but i haven't decided if i like it there in my new x.
