I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Limited 2wd. I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations of good roof racks and or grill guards. I'm tryin to give it a somewhat offroad look. I want to try to put the biggest basket i can up top but most of the ones i could find are farely small. I also like the look of the WAAG grill guards but I want to see what other options there are. Let me know if there are any other modifications i should make to my Explorer.

You may want to check out Aries grill guards as well. (Just do a search on Yahoo!) They're relatively cheap, 250 bucks before the 100 dollar shipping. My room mate has one for his Dodge Ram and it looks nice and he loves it. Just thought I'd throw that option out there.

do you want the look or protection and functionallity?

if the look, just get a guard

if protection and function, look towards an after market setup made by coryl or james duff or something along those lines.....


as far as roof racks, sureco and conferr seem to be very highly regarded... warrior is good too....

I have teh Yakima LoadWarrior rack. They also have a bigger MegaWarrior rack, but it may be too big for an Explorer. The LoadWarrior holds up to a 35" tire. I have the spare tire mount, hi-lift jack mount, and lots of light mounts. Here are some pics. I can get better ones if you want.
