View Full Version : Need pics of front bumpers (2nd gen) custom or not
Silverblade 10-17-2003, 08:17 PM Well today is a RAINY DAY, yesterday was the most rainfall in Vancouvers history and unfortunetely someone cut off my friend and he wrote off his 5.0L.
Makes me think how much I can save myself if I have a front bumper so I am now in the process of building one.
My truck is stock so I dont want anything that will look out of place with my stock tires but I would greatly appreciate any pics of your 2nd gen custom or boughten front/rear bumpers. Thanks guys.
DocVijay 10-17-2003, 09:00 PM Here's the bumper I ordered from CRL Customs (now called Moab Off-Road).

It's a TrailReady, but I think they pulled it from their web site- it was originally supposed to fit the Ranger.
williecume 10-19-2003, 02:06 AM i like both of those. if only i could convince the wife they would be put to good use so we could get them.

SANDSURFER'98 10-24-2003, 05:39 PM Hey Doc, nice bumper bar thing you got there. Who is the maker of that bumper. It looks nice and light. Thats something I would be interested in. Are you going to paint it? and if you dont mind (how much do they run?)
expo5.0 10-24-2003, 05:43 PM you could do one like this... jk i guess this isn't a thread for me

I got it from CRL Customs (now Moab Off-Road). Cory is the guy who built it, and he helps sponsor this site. ( www.crlcustoms.com ) As for being light, it's not that light. With the winch plate it weighs about 80 pounds. I'm planning on giving a nice coating of Herculiner. Going to be very careful with my hootus, though. Including shipping, I paid $575. I got a few extras on it, so it boosted the price up from the base $350.

Hee Hee!! 80lbs!!!
Jeez, you need to come try and pick up one of mine!
The freight on the front bumper w/winch was about 350lbs!
It took 3 people to lift it up to the front of the truck and that's without the winch on it.
The rears gotta be about 150!
I probably changed the GVW class just puttin them on my truck. :D

Alright, you win.
Yes, the bumper is very light. The shipping weight was 84 pounds to be exact. But it'll be another 80 pounds for the winch!
cdsl227 10-25-2003, 02:54 PM Sometimes when I think of how much weight is on the front of that thing it spooks me...but then I remember I'm putting leafs up there... :D
DocVijay 10-25-2003, 03:14 PM Still I feel better now knowing that you have almost 200 more pounds up front than I do. My torsion bars feel better too! :p
JoshC 10-27-2003, 08:29 PM To update Docs first picture of my truck and bumper, he is mine with my own winch mount on it.
Tat2dExploder 10-27-2003, 08:40 PM you can see mine in my picture thingy under my avatar :)

DocVijay 10-27-2003, 10:51 PM I got the bumper mounted, but not the winch plate. No winch yet. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
DocVijay 10-28-2003, 12:09 AM Here are some really crappy night pictures of the bumper.
Better ones tomorrow.

Holy Moly!! I thought mine stuck out there! You're gonna need those schoolbus mirrors on the front so you don't hit things!
Looks good, but it'd be better with the winch! ;)
How many parking meters do you have to put money in? :D

Actually, the 520's up top help me to judge the distance. I also thinkit will ook much much better once the winch is on there. It'll help fill in the space.
cdsl227 10-28-2003, 11:04 AM I plan on tacking on some ears so I can mount a coupla lights on the top rail of mine too...
I like the way the lights stick out there... ;)
JoshC 10-28-2003, 04:11 PM Yes it does stick out and yes it does look better with a winch. I've not hit anything with mine yet, except for little trees i've ran over in the woods. I love mine. I actually hit a deer the other day doing about 20 mph and flipped him over my hood. The only thing he did was rip off a fog light and crack my grill.
JoshC 10-28-2003, 04:16 PM Hey Doc, here's something you might be interested in that has been very handy for me. I mounted some tow hooks on mine, both sides and they are pretty stout. Whatcha think?

SCEXPLORER 10-28-2003, 04:31 PM What'd you guys use to paint yours? I noticed my paint on my grill chipped and i used car paint.
JoshC 10-28-2003, 04:37 PM I used Rustoleum. Good paint but it take FOREVER to dry, so i think if i have to do it again sometime i'll use some Krylon or something like that. I also sprayed a couple of layers of clear on top of the paint.
DocVijay 10-28-2003, 07:06 PM I saw the tow hooks in your previous post, but I got two of the clevis mounts with the bumper. I prdered some Warn 3/4" D-ring shackles to mount up there. Don't hink I'll need the tow hooks. Then again, maybe I'll get some and paint htem white for fangs! :D
Adam Berger 11-04-2003, 06:23 AM How does this one grab you? Made from aluminium and is airbag compatable.
cdsl227 11-04-2003, 02:53 PM That's definitely a nice one...and aluminum would save those torsion bars. ;)
