View Full Version : FS: Front bumper light mounting brackets
Hokie 10-26-2003, 02:08 PM I made a set for a member on the board and decided to go ahead and make some more to see if anyone would want em. I'm not really making any money on this, I just figured since I had the time and was already making 1 set I'll offer em to others.
$20 SHIPPED
2 sets of "Brett Built" front light brackets. These mount to your bumper bolts and then the bracket sticks between the bumper and the grille (will work with a body lift). For those of you not wanting to drill holes in your bumper or for those with a '99+ bumper that has the plastic cover and mounting lights would be hard.
I am currently using a set just like these to hold my 6" KC Slimlights and it works great.
They are made of 3/16" x 1" steel stock and have been primered and painted with 2 coats of Rustoleum black.
Here's lights mounted on my truck using the brackets

Pics of an older set that I sold to Sandsurfer (these are the same)

$20 to your door in the lower 48.
Thanks for lookin' y'all

Hokie 10-28-2003, 04:05 PM Here's the jist of my current setup... And yes, this is a MSPaint photocrop...
Both lights are mounted utilizing 'Brett Built' brackets :D

majorlag 10-29-2003, 04:18 PM Brackets fit a 94 model bumper? If so, I'm sold on one pair! I'd rather not drill the bumper.
Thanks for the info and the ingenuity! Are you one of those VPI engineering types? ;)

VT Mechanical Engineering class of '05 or '06 depending on how long I co-op :D
Umm... I don't know about 1st gen's. I have never pulled their bumpers off so I don't know how they mount. I could maybe crawl under one, but right now I can only say maybe.:(
majorlag 10-29-2003, 06:26 PM Excellent choice. Stick with engineering--people will always need folks to design stuff for them. Looks like you have a knack for it, too.
According my Haynes manual, it looks like they may bolt on the same way, but I'm not sure about the dimensions. I'll need to think this one over.
Thanks, man, and good luck with your schooling.
Brandons 10-29-2003, 06:43 PM Great idea man, if they do work for 1st gens i might be interested, allthough i can make my own, id much rather buy them from someone else whos got more experience makin them.
Hokie 10-30-2003, 08:38 AM Umm, if someone could maybe take a pic of their bumper on their first gen? They were designed for 2nd gens so I don't know the dimensions will be the same. (like, the distance between the bumper bolt and the space between the grile and the bumper)
majorlag 10-30-2003, 02:48 PM Hokie,
I'll take a pair. I'll check the fit and dimensions "in the field," so to speak. If they don't work, I'm sure I can find a 2nd gen taker. And if they do, I don't have to drill holes in my bumper!
Will a personal check work OK for ya? PM me with address info, please. Thanks!
Hokie 10-30-2003, 02:51 PM Check 'yer PM's
majorlag 10-31-2003, 01:32 PM So to speak. . .
Got the money order in the mail today. Should be up your way in 2-3 days, I figure.
Thanks!
gijoecam 04-26-2004, 12:06 PM Getting red X's for the mounting pictures... is it just me?
This looks like EXACTLY what I need!! I'm not afraid to make them myself as we have lots of scrap metal laying around work. (I'm a machine repariman by trade, so I'm not afraid of power tools!)

Gijoe, I think those pics were in my photo gallery and the links got changed when the server changed and now I can't figure out the new gallery. If you want a set, you may try PM'ing Majorlag, I think he said the set I sold him ended up not working for his 1st Gen.
gijoecam 04-26-2004, 10:40 PM I would like to make a set for myself, but I'd also like to see exactly what material you used and how they mount... those pics would be a HUGE help... even if you could just post the link, that'd be cool...

storlied 12-30-2007, 08:10 PM Would it be asking too much to view a picture n directions of how these are made? I'd buy them from you but .. I live in Alaska.. =\ Hell.. I still might buy a set.. It would be easier though if I can find some place to make them for me..
I'm going to be getting KC Slim lights.
91exploreron37 12-30-2007, 08:20 PM He probably should have a pair left. This thread isnt that old.:D
