ok so i had to get a new battery today. I went to a for dealership this morning to see about getting a new one.... they wanted 150 pounds for it!!! thats like 220 bucks US!

I did not really want to spend that kind of money so i went to a local auto store who said they had a battery for a explorer. I got that for 80 pounds (100US) so thats was alright i guess. Anways i got it back and its not the same size at all!
so i took it back and got a refund.

anyways... I dont want to have to spend 200 bucks on a motercraft battery.... I also dont want to get anything thats not going to fit again :-( any ideas....

I went to this link
http://www.etyres.co.uk/batteryresults.asp?branch=&make=Ford&model=Explorer+Petrol

but i have no idea if its going to be the right size or what :-(

looks like the battery bay will only take the stock motercraft battery

I dont know if his will help or not nut the Explorer uses a 65 series battery. If you look at the lable on the battery it should have a 65 somwhere in it. Interstate batteries for example call it a MTP-65. Thats what I have. 65-5 is also common. Check around and see what you can find.

LOGJOCKY,

is that cover on the motercraft one just for that battery or will it go over others?

Get an Optima Red Top. Made by Interstate, many car shops in the UK have them.

Thudson, by any chance would you ever consider putting dual batteries in? Piranha make a new cradle to fit in there and you can buy a normal size battery then. I have one and it works just fine even though the battery is smaller.

Even with a group 65 battery....the cover that goes over it is not needed.....FYI..an Optima will be $$$ also.

Optimas are expensive. Any 65 series battery will fit.

A buddy of mine in "Brum" just went through the same problem. Within a few days both of us had to replace batteries. Being stateside I could just drive to Advanced Auto and pick up a $73 top of their line, fitted. He had to try at least two to get a correct fit.

Well the same here as he would have to pay for a normal battery and they're much better; just trying to help.

thanks for the help so far guys....... i just dont want to part with all that money for a stinking motercraft batt when something half the price could be better and does the same thing!
