Signed the contract today. Starting January 5th or 12th I will be a co-op engineer for Robert L. Bosch, Inc. in Charleston, SC. They are going to put me on the common rail fuel pump/delievery team (diesel I think) and I will be working in the lab running tests/anaylsis and doing design work.

Bosch didn't give me the pay I was looking for, but oh well, the career opportunities available through Bosch are endless.

There's is a VERY good chance that Bosch will send me to Munich, Frankfurt or one of their 60 locations in Germany this summer, next summer, or spring semester '05. (I am minoring in German, so that would be amazing to work in Germany!)

One of my career goals is to spend some time living/working in Germany so when I got this opportunity I couldn't pass it up!

Anyway, I've gotta start the apt. hunt. If anybody is familiar with the Charleston area, where should I look for cheap housing? I'm thinking N. Charleston, West Ashley or Summerville.

Can't wait to meet some of you SXC members!
And does anybody know of good places to squirrel/rabbit/quail hunt in SC? I'm thinking Marion NF north east of charleston?

I'm hoping I'll be able to find some nice places to ride my bike too..

Anyway, I'm really excited and I think a celebratory beer is in order! Later y'all! :chug::chug::chug:

Look whos coming south, you will have to come to Statesboro some time, it is only 2 hours. I am sure we could show you a hell of a time and we could get even on the beer bet.

Why in the world would you WANT to be in Germany?

My mother's maiden name is Juenger (insert umlaut above that u).

I think I'm 1/2 German.

Not saying I would want to live there indefinately, but I definately would love to live in Germany (or a German speaking country) sometime in my life ~ especially after visiting my sister and her husband this summer (who live in Lugano, Switzerland)

I wonder if I would get wierd looks blarin' Alan Jackson in Deutschland? ;)

Found a place to live today (I think)
An employee of Bosch lives by herself in a 4 bedroom house in North Charleston. It would be me + another intern + her in the house and i'd basically have free roam on the house, den, kitchen, tv's, washer/dryer... 10 minutes from work (I can ride my bike to work :D), $350 for everything and no lease. Can't beat that!

As per mapquest...

Home to work

Total Estimated Time: 9 minutes
Total Distance: 3.06 miles :D

Congrates on the new job! hope everything works out. as for the Germany thing - good luck there too. I love German beer (Hacker is my favorite), remember its much higher in alcohol than what we have here in the states. German wines aren't too bad either (i personally am a cab girl).

Warsteiner Dunkel is my favorite German beer (for now). I spent 1 month in high school outside of Freiburg, Germany living on a vinyard/winery. It was amazing!

haha.. maybe a milf?

her son goes to U of SC so i'm guessing she's my mom's age. There is another intern living there, hopefully it'll be a hot ass chick so I can just walk down the hallway to knock off a piece ;)

I could never live with a girl unless she was my wife. Good luck with it.

I'm not too worried about it

If it happens to be a MILF and a hot chick.. give me a call and I'll come stay there for the summer when youre in Euroland.

February.

If you have any question about Bosch or your new "home" feel free to ask.

Yeah, thats right... I'll be living with a (presumably HOT) German chick across the hall :D
