Anyone here into Airplane's/Heli's?
I have every thing to fly but still havent gone to the field and started practicing..
I hate being the rookie..
I've been practicing on a flight simulator (aerofly pro) for awhile but its on a pc and that really is no sub for hands on..
just curious..

Ariakas,
Congrats on getting into a very nice part of the radio controlled hobby.
I have been flying RC airplanes since I was about 10 yrs old (32 years total RC) and have no regrets...but a definite dent in the wallet area.
I have learned a lot about flying and general aerodynamics through these planes. It was a natural hobby for me and later helped lead me into being an AF Pilot.
RC flying definitely takes some patient learning and practice. Expect to lose several (or many) planes over the course of this hobby. If you don't then somethings wrong or you are not flying enough.
I can discuss about any aspect of this hobby since I have flown about every type there is except for the very expensive and VERY hard to fly helicopters.
You did not mention what type of flying you might be interested in....electric, gas, ducted fan, gliders, sport flying, electric gliders...etc?
You also did not mention what equipment you have or are planning to get.
I get a lot of my equipment from Tower Hobbies (mainly because I have ordered from them for over 20 years and they have a good website a great clor catalogs.

First off, do you have any flying time? Real or RC?
I have taught a lot of people to fly both real and RC...and there are huge differences. Both fly aerodynamically the same, but the pilots perspective is obviously quite different. A lot of my Air Force pilot buddies did not take me serious and ended up frustrated and broke after trying to fly their "toys"!
Depending on what you try to fly, you will surely need an instructor. It can take hours of carefull teaching to be able to fly one successfully.
If you can give me an idea on the type of equipment/flying you have in mind, I will be more than happy to share ideas etc. It's a big hobby so I need you to narrow it down a bit.
Don't let those ads for beginners airplane fool you, they are all difficult!!!!
Let me know.

My dad flies helis, and I fly planes. Helis are tough, and expensive. I have electric and nitro planes.
I second www.towerhobbies.com (http://www.towerhobbies.com) I buy most of my stuff from there.
I helped my friend build his first plane: a Tower Voyager

I have a tower trainer .40 with the appropriate engine.
I have a futaba 9cap radio a 7ch reciever 4 servos
prop balancer tools various other components..
so far I have only been using the 9cap to connect to my computer and use aerofly pro..
I can control the heli's much easier than the airplanes..
I even have an old ducted fan in various stages of building that probably has lost parts a friend gave to me to get it out of his garage..
sport i'm kind of surprised you're friend went with a low wing on his first plane.. i thought it was alot easier to learn on a high wing..

Yeah, I questioned his decision, but he has flown a few of my planes, and another friend's high wing trainer.
He is still not as good as me, though. I am the only one that has flown the voyager, and after sunset, too. :D He really wanted me to fly it.
