This is driving me nuts. On my 97 there is a small grill just to the right of the radio. It is about 1" wide and 1 1/4" long and is angled towards the passenger. What it's for? Some sort of automatic temperature control sensor?

I think it has something to do with the passengers side EXPLODING BODY MANGLER! (sorry I had a bad experiance with air bags)

Someone told me it had to do with the fancu high end climate control systems. It is simply there in other models/

That's right. If you have the electronic climate control, then it will have a thermistor behind the grill to sense the internal temperature. It is cheaper for Ford to make one dash rather than two.
