I notice when i Fill up the needle goes WAYYY over full, like almost a half tank over it. And then the tank is empty when it says there is bewteen E and a 1/4 tank.
I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen?
Its a 91 4 door.

Yeah my 91 4 door had that problem... now it just always stays on E... Ive learnde to live with no gas gauge... it was frustrating at first, but its cool now... i like to suprise ppl who say "man dont you need gas?" and im like" ehh, ill chance it for another few miles"... let em squirm... haha

you need to pull the dash and on the next fill up pull the gas needle and relocate it to the full line. problem solved.
I never really trust my gas gauge, only time i beleive it is when it says full or empty, I almost always get 200 miles to a tank so i just use that as a guideline to when to fill up.

I dont really trust my gas gauge either. I usually get around 300 miles per tank, so I use that as an indicator to fill up. Sometimes it says I have a quarter of a tank left when I start the car, but a few miles later it reads Im almost empty. Dont really trust it, but I have made due...

Reading too high when full isn't a big issue... But having empty be closer to 1/8th tank is really anoying (especially w hen someone else drives your truck)
What I did was figure out how far off my gauge was.. (empty for me was just above the red)..
Some time during the next fill-up I waited until the gauge was about 1/8" above the 1/2 way mark. It waited until then so I could use the 1/2 tank mark as a reference. I then pulled the cover off the gaue, pulled the needle, reinstalled the needle at the 1/2 tank mark (I moved it about width of the red area near E). Now my tank read just about perfect.
At 1/4 tank I have about 5 gallons and at about 1/2 tank I have about 11 gallons. When I fill the tank it still goes past full, but thats ok.. Its the 1/2 Tank and Empty that are more important.

Mines not accurate either. it can change about a 1/4 tank in a couple minutes one way or the other. I think its mainly due to going up and down hills; When tilted nose down it will read less gas and when leaning upward it will show more.

Mine at 'E' for years. Use the trip counter - refill before 320 Miles.
