hi,
recently my keyless entry system stopped working. i first thought it was the batteries, but when it tried the second remote, it also didnt work. i havent had time to check the fuses yet.
i do recall before the system stopped working was when i was driving and my doors would mysteriously unlock. it happened twice the day it stopped working and no one has touched the door lock switch. it also happened once before but i thought it was nothing.
can it be a possible short somewhere?

thanks
jate

I have the same problem. Ford put out a service bulletin and believe it or not, static electricty from the seat shorts out the control module. The fix is grounging the seats and replacing the module. I haven't had time to fix mine yet but I will send you the srevice bulletin if you post your email address.

Phantom,
What years is that service bulletin for?

I have a 98 and use the keyless entry exclusively and would hate to have a problem.

The service bulletin I have is for 1995-97 Explorer and 1997 Mountaineer. I guess maybe the fixed the problem after that. The fix for the static is a clip on the inside seat rail. You might try looking to see if you have one. Let me know if I can be of any more help.
