Howdy all. I've been leasing Explorer Sports since around 98' Finally decided to purchase one in 03'. Its now got over 100k on it and I anticipate the start of the usual old car maintenance issues.. thus my reason for searching out a forum such as this.

Ive leased or owned 3 different Explorer Sports.. over-all I couldnt be happier with the vehicle..

Hello All!

Here as a new owner of a 2002 Explorer XLT.
Previously had a 1995 Isuzu Trooper, but it caught fire and had to find a new ride fast.
I think I got lucky finding this one as it only had 83,500 miles on it and has had the transmission totally redone.

Newbie

Hello all,

I'm Tom, I've owned A 91 Ranger STX 4.0 Auto and A 2000 Ranger Flairside 3.0 5 speed. I'm in the U.P. of Michigan and am currently running a 2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5 of my own and a 2009 Explorer XLT company rig.

I look forward to reading through the posts and getting tech help when needed.

hello

so glad i found this sight. since i purchased my first ford 90' ranger x-cab 4.0, for a measly $400, truck was great till it started to have lifter noise and then very high intake vaccum. i parked it and then gave it to my son as his first truck. he is slowly taring it apart for a rebuild. so i came across another great deal, 94' explorer 2wd 145k for just $900. wow, and in great shape. couple of things though, it pings when hot, and tranny has slight slip between 1 and 2nd. can anyone out there can direct me on were to start?

I bought an explorer sport 2001 with auto transmission a year ago. Most miles put on in a month are about 100, most of it up and down and a little of it going forward. I live on a Caribbean island of about 18 square miles. Occassionally, I will put explorer on a barge (tomorrow) for a four mile trip across sound to another island of about 38 square miles and can actually get up to 30 (maybe 40) mph.

Sober mechanics are hard to find and knowledgable ones are even harder to find still. So, that brings me to the forum.

Hi everyone, I have a black 1998 XLT -- great truck! It's getting a bit old but keeping it around as a project for me and my kids (eventually -- first son is two and we have another child on the way). I have a bit of learning to do myself but this will be a wonderful gift to pass on to them. The experience more so than the truck itself. I hope to get to know some of you over the coming years...

Hi, I'm Bronwyn and I just joined today! I have a silver '02 xlt v6. Everything is stock right now, but I'm getting a big settlement from a car accident very soon and that's when I plan on starting the modification process, which is why I decided to join.

My little plan consists of: a 3" body lift, new black wheels, 33 all-terrains, a rooftop rack and if there's enough... a fresh black paint job.

UK new here

Hi,just joined today,I am from hornchurch, essex, england,I picked up my first explorer yesterday and gave it a 220 mile test drive journey home,Having had p38 range rovers and more recently a jeep grand cherokee in the past,I was worried as to how I would feel driving the explorer, but the more I drove it the more I got to like it,so far I am impressed,at the moment I dont think there are any problems with the car.
One thing I could do with some help with is although I have the service book all stamped etc,I need to find an original owners wallet with handbooks etc ,Its a 1998 ford explorer uk model inevergreen frost(light metalic green). If anyone has or is breaking one and has no need to keep the wallet and books,I would be happy to buy them off you if the cost was reasonable.I will be exploring the site and looking at what goodies I might be able to add to mine, and what you lt have done to yours as wellas how to solve any problems,I will post a photo of mine when we get a bright day to take pics, regards david

New member...

Just wanted to say what's up. I'm new to this forum and the way I found yall was by looking for info on jackin' up my ride. I recently got my 2004 Explorer XLS and as soon as I got I knew what I wanted to do to it. Lift it and throw on some nice tires and a grille!! Alot of friends told me to put some chrome rims and i'm not knockin' that. But I want my truck to be big and be mean!! It's my first big truck and I love it!! I recently had a 2009 Lancer GTS and it got totaled by a drunk driver and that's when I knew I wanted a truck!! I wish for no more accidents, but if it were to happen I want to know it can take a hit and give one!! But no plans for any of that! I was please to fine such a great forum for Explorer owners and have visted quite a few time before signing up. It has great info and great people, and i'm glad to be a part of it. Thanks!!
