Cool

I JUST MOUNTED THE 33X10.50R15 ON TO THE STOCK RIMS(15X7)OF MY 91 EXPLORER WITH A 4" SUPERLIFT KIT. THEY FIT GREAT WITH NO BODY MODIFICATINS. THE SUPER RUNNER STEERING HAS NO PROBLEM TURNING THESE TIRES. I JUST CAME BACK FROM A BACK COUNTRY RIDE, THEY ARE QUIET ON-ROAD, AND GREAT TRACTION OFF-ROAD. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND PUTING THESE TIRES ON WITH ANYTHING LESS THAN A 4" LIFT. NEXT IS DEFINATELY LOWER GEARS.

Question

Hi Bigdog,
I have 31X10.5 R15 BFG A/T's on my 97XLT stock height and don't have any problem at all. There are many of us out there that have them on stock suspensions. Some work ok and some don't. This is one of those "you have to try them and see" sort of thing.

You are talking about two different tire sizes.

Most people use the 33x12.5's for stability reasons. Theoretically you should add an inch of tire width for every inch of suspension lift. What is your stability like with the 33x10.5 tires and 4" lift?

BIG DOG - I am considering the 33x10.5's for my Exploder. I have a modified 3.5" susp lift with a 1" body lift going in. You say you have no rub problems at all? All clearance issues are green light? Most important, what does it ride like? Does it feel tippy when cornering or out on the highway?

Cheers

Dale

IN RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS POSED IN EARLIER REPLIES:

FIRST THING IS YOU HAVE TO CAUTIOUS, YOUR NOT DRIVING A STOCK VEHICLE ANY MORE.
THE HIGHWAY PERFORMANCE IS REALLY GOOD THOUGH. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU DO HAVE TO SLOW DOWN ON BENDS TO TAKE IT EASY. FEEL THE VEHICLE IN THE TURN. SO DRIVE ACCORDINGLY.

I JUST CAME BACK FROM A RUN TO HOLLISTER HILLS OHV STATE PARK. THE TIRES HANDLED BEAUTIFULLLY. I AIRED DOWN THE TIRES TO 1O PSI. THE EXPLORER JUST WENT RIGHT UP THE STAIR CLIMB WITH NO PROBLEMS. I JUST CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I GET LOCKERS AND LOWER GEARS. ON SEVERAL OF THE TRAILS, WE HAD BOTH TIRES DEEP IN THE WHEEL WELLS WITH MINIMAL RUBBING.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY THESE TIRES JUST BE AWARE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MODIFIDE FOR OFF- ROAD USE.

HAPPY EXPLORING!
