My 98 Explorer has the Auto Temperature control feature, and is stuck on high heat only reguardless of digital reading. Are there any sudgestions for trouble shooting?

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the blower relay was stuck on. A new relay for $6 fixed the problem. The relay is in the power distribution box on the drivers side, by the fire wall. When you open the box, it's the relay all the way up by the fire wall, and all the way towards the engine.

If you mean there is no temp control, only hot, this is commonly a blend door issue, either the blend door itself is broken, or the actuator is inop. The actuator can be changed easily, it is behind the glove box. If the door is broken, the preferred repair is replacing the plenum, however there are kits available that offer a cheaper alternative. Replacing the plenum requires removing the instrument panel.
In the case of high blower only, could be the blower controller . |
