Conti Mud Trac?
Hey guys,
Came across this at desertrat... http://www.desertrat.com/mudder/mega_mudder.htm I know they make a good street tire (many BMW's run these), but any clue how they are offroad? Price is great, but not sure how they compare to anything else... J |

DiffWhackDaddy had these tires; they fell out of round relativity quickly, and he replaced them with BFG AT/ko's.

I went with that setup on my truck. 33x12.50's on 15x8 rims with 3.75" of backspacing. I don't know how fast they will go out of round, or how good of a street tire they are, but they are awesome off road. I just got done doing two weekends of wheeling in Attica. I aired them down to around 12-14 psi, and let them do their job. I was in sand, mud, rocks and just plain trails. For the price, I don't think there is a tire out there any better. They clean out REALLY well in the mud, and grip great on rocks.
I don't drive mine much on the street, but they are not that loud and seem to do well in the rain also. Don't know what else to tell ya other than I am really happy with them. |

Every mud terrain looks like BFG's, or is it BFG's look like every mud terrain. Who say's BFG was first. Who cares, they work just as good and are much cheaper. Which is good for all us other people who don't have a money tree in our back yards.

Jon I think the beast tihng to do is go with a set of crome steel wheels like 200 or so and the go to Discounttire.com and get you a set of good year MT/Rs for like 700. This will be best in the long run. Robbie

Usually, you should be able to get them for $10 more than the same size BFG's, and they are one of the *BEST* all around tire made.

Tom was that 160 with the warranty or 160 plus the warranty? Is that tire store local or is it a national chain? I got mine from discount tire but they have a low price guarentee I paid 157 each plus the warrienty. Maybe I can get some dough back. Thanks Robbie

Robbie, it was 160 + 20 for hazard.
Discount Tire/Americas Tires is all over the place.. they even do mailorder! check out http://www.tires.com. wow, lookie here: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/me...lue1=Truck/SUV $156 ea, mailorder! Wow! I called around - Goodyear, BigO, 4Wheelparts, then Discount Tires. The last 3 matched the price - BUT, 4wheelparts had no hazard warranty, and you paid for mounting/balancing and any flats. BigO was little bit better, but Discount Tire I paid nothing for mounting, balancing and they have a free flat fix also, and offered a hazard warranty. I've had zip problems with them, they was a great place to work (they even offered to get me beadlocks!)

91'explorer 2wd,
The Goodyer MT/R's are not a Mud Terrain/Radial... They are Maximum Traction/Reinforced. These tires are deisgned to grip pretty much anywhere and have good road manners. Very strong sidewalls - unless you are tdavis - he can rip anything ![]() 914x4sport, I like the procomps if I need to go the budget route, but I am hoping to swing either the Goodyears or Mickey Thompsom Baja Belted - depends on budget constraints... I have already destroyed one MTR, taking a 8penny nail into the side wall. Was replaced, no fuss, no hassle. As for "why" MT/R's, you have to ask? Go find a review!
