I just got a realy good deal on a set of used p225-75-r15's and plan to put them on my X. I know that the stock size is p235-75-r15. The 225's will only be a litle narrow right? Does any one see any problems with using these on my X?

Stock tire of 235/75/R15 is 28.9" dia and section width of 9.3"

New tire of 225/75/R15 is 28.3" dia and section width of 8.9"

Overall, not a big difference and you should be fine. Basically, if the 225/75/15 have good, full tread, and the 235/75/15 were somewhat bald, you won't notice any height difference. You will have less traction on the road because of the width, but it shouldn't be too noticable.

Re: less traction on the road...not necessarily true. Narrower tires are WAY better in snow. I have seen many jacked up trucks with big wide tires that cannot go anywhere close to my dad's 4x4 with tall skinny tires. Thue, they do look like hell, but practically, skinny is better, unless you are talking about needing flotation on sand or mud.

Also, wide tires have better traction on dry pavement, but wet...narrow is better. My brother had a '72 Mustang Mach 1 with big a$$ wide tires on the back, and if the pavement was wet or snowy at all, he couldn't control his rear.

So narrow is in? Am I going to be the coolest guy on the road? How about starting a new trend, forget the fat swampers lets all go low buck, short and thin. hahaha

Seriously, thanks for the info I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t have any problems.
I hope they don’t look too funny.
