i'm curious about this, too. i am considering some 16's and know that there aren't any in the usual 30, 31, 32" sizes. i went to the bfg website and the 265 75 16" tires measure 31.7" x 10.5" and the 265 70 16" are 30.7" x 10.7. i am pretty sure the 265 70's would fit w/o the torsion twist and shackels (which i do have), but would the 265 75's fit? it seems to me that these are actually 32x10.5, but i am concerned about the fit. i do not want to cut anything, and i don't want to have to ga with a boby lift, but if i need to, i guess i could. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My dad's company has a 97 Eddie bauer with the 265/70's on it without mods or rubbing, but i was thinking more in terms of like 275's? I do not know if I want to go any taller, because at full compression my 255/70's contacted the upper front wheelwells. it wa not bad, but they did rub at full compression. I was just looking for something a bit wider.

I too, am looking for new, taller tires. I installed a 3" liftkit on my 95 Eddie Bauer and wanted to installe taller tires. I currently have the stock, wich are Firestone Wilderness AT P255/70R16. Ford is recalling all the 15 and 16 inch Wilderness AT, they said they would give me $110 for each tire, if I bought them elsewhere. so here I smy oportunity to get a good deal on some tires. Any recomendations out there???

Thanks,

Hector

I think that is the size Gerald has on his Explorer. They work out to about a 33" diameter tire.

Robert,
In order to fit the 265/75 under your truck did you have to do the 2" lift or can I run 265/75 on my stock truck?

I rode on 265/75R16's stock for a while. Not problems with rubbing or anything. I put in add-a-leaf's, but I didn't have to twist my bars as for some reason they were already a little higher. I am thinking about putting on a 3 inch body lift and going with a set of MT 34x11.5R16's Baja Belteds. But that would be a long time off when these 265's wear down.

The 2" lift wasn't required to fit the 265s under my '97. I did the lift for appearance and functionality. If I get my Explorer really bouncing hard, I can hear my front tires contact the upper wheel liner. There are also marks on the upper portion that indicate the tire has hit there occasionally. It is only on one side and I can't remember which. One side has a plastic ridge that runs down the middle of the liner, that's the side. Since it is plastic and hasn't worn through, I'm not concerned about it. There are also shiny marks on my front sway bar where my tires must have rubbed at full lock. No marks on the tires though. Since it is a smooth spot and I don't drive very far at full lock nor very fast, again I am not concerned about it.
