Question Tires, how big will fit?

What are the largest tires that will fit on the 95-00 body style with no lift? I want to try to get 285/75R16's on.

Hey KSMike,
what part of KS you from?

From everything I've read on this board the biggest you can go w/o a lift is 31x10.50 or 265/75 you might have to do a little trimming up front.
I'm gonna do a 2" shackle and TT lift and try to fit some 32x11.50's under it some time next week...

ummm. a 265/75r15 is a 31x10.50

here a link to tirerack specs on the Dunlop radial rover ( only one I could find with both spec's)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...al+Rover+A%2FT
but the 265/75r15's outer diameter is 30.7" and the
31x10.5r15 is 30.4"

for most tire manufactures this is true...

{EDIT} I just noticed the 16

On my 98 XLT V8, I put on 265/75R16 which are about 32"x10.5". These tires fit but when going over bumps, you can hear it rub on the top of the fenderwell and when turning at full lock, it rubs on the sway bars. Also, if you have factory running boards, it'll rub on the front part of them.
I recommend getting shackles and doing the TT if you get these size tires, or at least the TT because the back fits fine. Oh, and another thing, watch out for the tires rubbing on the e-brake cable.

what about a 265/70R16? will there be any rubbing with that? I dont want any rubbing and I dont want to lift or trim anything. How about a 275/60R16? Too wide? The overall diameter of the 275/60R16 is very close to the 235/75R15's that I have on now. It is approx .4% larger.

The biggest you can fit without ANY rubbing is a 30". If you want a 31" you'll have a little rubbing on large bumps. Anything bigger forget it.

What's tread width? I know how wide the tire is... almost 10.5"
so it's almost equivalent to 32"x10.5"

Ya, withiut any lift, you won't be able to fit anyhting bigger than a 30x9.5 on a 15 or a 255/70 on a 16. A 265/75 is a lttle bigger than a 31, depending on the make and model. Por ejemplo (for examlpe for you single language folks) my LTX AT's are a 30.9" tire. A MT/R 31 is 30.4". So it just depends.
