18"/20" for 4 x 4?
Anybody know where I could get some 18 or 20" rims for my Eddie Bauer? There are tons of rims of the two wheel drive Exp., but I can't find anything for 4WD.

The rims listed for the 2wd X should fit your 4wd.

I thought they wouldn't fit (without drilling the hole out) because of the 4WD hub?

Starting in '95 there was no protruding 4WD hub, you're safe.

I'm not sayin anyone's wrong, or trying to start anything, but I asked the same question over at underground explorer and a guy said I had to get a spacer and take out the hub for the wheels to fit. Just tryin to get a 100% positive answer before I go throught the hassle. Thanks.

hey, regular rear wheel drive rims here and no problems with spacers or all of that. that is only a problem with the older trucks as far as i know.

I just bought a set of 20s for my 94 4x4. I had a real hard time trying to find a set to fit. I ended up getting a set of MKW wheels. They just about fit over the front hub. I'm going to drop them off to a machinist to have the hole opened up 1/4" and they should fit perfect.
I thought about taking out the hub also. One of the guys on this site recommended not too. I'm not sure his exact wording. Do a search, it was around christmas time. Good luck trying to find a set for your truck... Mike

Yeah I'm pretty confident they will fit.
Long, long ago some ass gave all the automotive companies information on explorers but he made a big mistake. He told everyone to put in their records that a 95 explorer was a first generation explorer. And so that's why everybody out there thinks you have autohubs and TTB when in reality you have a sealed hub assembly and SLA.

Paul, was the 95 a first gen. or second gen.?
Mike Boyle has said the same thing.

95 has 2nd gen body style, but im not sure about some of the mechanical details - they might not have changed everything about the truck from 94 to 95.

Well I wasn't asking a general question I was wanting to know about the truck that paul saw specifically. Every 95 I have ever seen has everything the 96 has except for OBD II.

Ok, by looking at my truck how can I tell if I have the hub that will cause a problem. I guess that seems to be the only sure fire answer to the problem. What does it look like?

just go pop off your front center cap; see if the thing is sticking out.
hopefully someone else will follow up and reply with a more technical response

Tomorrow I'll pop one of my center caps off and see exactly what's protruding. Then I'll report back....
