after i replaced my 2 mos. old kyb shocks for my edelbrocks b/c i was not happy with my ride quality, i am still not 100% satisfied. the edelbrocks did make a world of difference, but for that $ i don't want to feel anything. anyways, i have stock size tires on my x that are called wide conquerors. they came on it and were brand new so i was not going to get new tires. that was a year ago and soon i am going to need new ones. probably for the upcoming winter. will a tire like a michelin or pirelli really improve my ride? i would also go up to a 31'' too.

A good quality highway tire will most likely improve your ride quality. I am not familar with your current brand of tire. You may also experiment with tire pressure. Lower tire pressure better handling. But don't go to low. Also regular tire maintenance will also help, rotation and rebalencing at least every 5,000 miles. Lots if info on the site about various tire brands.

i always keep up on the maintenance. my tires are balanced, rotated, pressure is right, and aligned. so i know it's not maintenance, just maybe the actual tires. thanks

Tire pressure can make a huge difference in ride. The pressure on the sidewall is not necessarily the pressure you should have them at. Somewhere on here (I think GJarrett posted it) is the proper way to inflate your tires by looking at the footprint they put down.

The ride and handling with my 33x12.50 XTerrains is actually better at 35 psi than at 30 psi. Above 35 though and they suck.
Tires make a huge difference. All these factors can affect ride and handling: overall tire size, rim size, compound, tread, sidewall height, sidewall strength, psi. So yes, crappy tires usually result in a crappy ride.
