Why did you buy your Explorer instead of a Blazer, Durango, 4 Runner...ect.
I have to do a project for my marketing class and I decided to do it on the Ford Explorer. I need to know the top two reasons people chose to buy their Explorer. There are some other things I need to know also, but will ask those questions after I get some results on this.

Oh, and please don't tell me you bought your Explorer so you could lift it and go wheeling. That won't help me with my project. :p
Thanks.

Leg room was a big part of it for me. I also wanted a 4x4 to build up into a good offroader...i have a decent start with that :)

Sporty looks. All weather capability. The right size for my needs. Plus it's a FORD...

I had a 2wd Ranger pickup w/canopy that I liked very much, then we had a kid. I needed something we could take the kid and the dog in and I didn't want the dog in the back seat of our Galant.

I got the '94 cause it had all the bells and whistles for less $ than an XLT Gen2.

Wanted 4x4 capability for my wife. She has to drive to work sometimes when it gets nasty. Also wanted something with 4 doors that could handle adult-sized people, the ability to tow, and something classy - when the Explorer came up, I grabbed it.

Hmm when I went shopping it was an explorer or a cherokee. Price was a factor but it could go either way

I needed versatility. I have a kid and run around the city all week. At the same time I spend most weekends in the mountains so I needed clearance and the 4x4 Both met the need. But the deciding factor was the choppy interstate 5 at 70. The explorer floats and the jeep jumps all over hell. Would I had that solid front axle under the jeep though.

Sorry my answer : price and versatility. Besides I am a ford guy

I like it b/c I wanted an SUV and the Explorer has the largest cargo room. Also for its rugged looks. My Eddie Bauer looks rugged yet elegant enough if I want to take my g/f to a nice restaurant, especially when my truck is clean and shinny.

:can: I bought the Explorer because I like to go camping and needed room for my three kids and girlfriend. More roomy than the Blazer/Jimmy and J@@p of the same year, plus it was loaded with more toys than I thought could ever go in a vehicle. I always wanted a 4x4!

1. Brand Loyalty (Family gatherings look like a dealership lot.)
2. Towing Capacity (Able to tow four ATVs and custom trailer.)
2. Appearance (First Luxury SUV by brand, attractive styling.)

Looks mainly, but what convinced me to buy was a '97 X that had been in a head on collision. The front end was like an accordian but the interior structure was in good shape.

I was always just a fan of ford and had a Ranger before, and then I wanted a 4x4 SUV and so the explorer was the most logical choice, also because i knew it came in 5-speed and i'll never buy an automatic.

Ok, I'm gonna use looks and price for my project.

Tell me why you like the looks of the explorer over the blazer and cherokee.
Please remember that this has to do with stock vehicles so I dont want to hear that an explorer on 35's looks better than a jeep on 35's.

What is the cost of a brand new Explorer vs. similar models of new blazers and cherokees?

as for costs I woudl jsut check the manufature's respective websites... for me its a tough call on looks honestly cause im not to picky, but i always liked the ford simple yet powerful look to the grill, but then again it may just be because I have always been such a ford fan so i didn't really want to consider anything else.
