I was heading down a 5 lane road in the left lane and went to change lanes. Checked it all - blind spots, mirror, BLIS. All clear...NOT.

Ended up scraping the side of a 05 Honda Civic. Took off her side-mirror and got the trim. Her mirror put a dent and some abraisions on my front right fender. I've only had the thing a MONTH!!

I'm just sick about it. Everyone was fine but now I"m almost afraid to drive the thing - I'm honestly considering trading vehicles with my husband for a while.

So - please, be aware that everything can be setup right but sometimes...

I just keep telling myself "no one was hurt" and "it's just stuff" but damn it - while those things are important, I feel like an idiot. :( Just please be careful!

2wd Sport Lift Plan

Alright guys, so I sorta know what I'm doing (well, I feel confident, but I'm probably missing something.) So here's the plan. I don't want much lift, just a couple inches. So, I was thinking of doing a TT to get 2-3 inches. Next, either get some warrior shackles or have some custom made so that the rear will match the front. Thats the easy part that won't cost me much. Next are tires though; either 31's or 33's. What's involved with each? I have an automatic so I know the bigger tires will effect my shift points. How much of a problem is that? And how hard is it to get fixed? And same with getting the speedo recalibrated, what's that cost? And finally are wheel spacers (well, they're called adapters at the one inch size) be a good or bad idea? And the last question is does anyone have any suggestions about my plan and what troubles, if any, will the TT and shackles give me?

Hey!

Glad to have found this forum!

I'm a complete newbie looking to learn a thing or 10 about maintaining my ride. I bought it from a kid a few months ago that just didn't do anything to take care of it!

It's a 1997 Explorer EPR. The radiator has a leak. The stereo is beat up. It's got no emergency brakes or high beams. The a/c blows hot. The rear wiper motor is pooched and the front window leaks from developing rust on the roof!

But she drives like a tank! A smooth, solid ride! and I'd like to think theres still a lot of life left in her, worthy of my time and sweat to bring her back to a clean and stock condition.

If anyone out there can steer this newbie in the right direction it'd be greatly appreciated!

rear fender loose

I started to put mud guards on the wife's 2011 and I pulled on the bottom of the rear fender. It wiggled in and out app 1 -2 " . Turned out the plastic rivet that holds the inner fender to inside had vibrated the hole bigger.
So we had to do the recall ,oil change and some other things I let the service manager know of the problem. Turns out that Ford has spacers to take up the slack when this happens. Tighten it right up , only problem is they only fixed one side DUH.
This was at 6500 miles so go out and give you fenders a wiggle :D

Possibly getting rid of the EX..

Im not sure if this is even the right sub forum for this but its kinda the only one im ever on..

Anyways the new explorer, its a Black 2002 4x4. It has about the same mileage as mine buttt it does have a sunroof, keypad entry, automatic lights, and 20 inch wheels! (None of which mine has) It looks really good for its year and the deal is trading straight up. I'll be switching all my mods over to the black one also. Lemme know what you guys think!

4x4 is a HUUUUGGEEE thing contributing to this.

I need to change the ECM and I notice on Rock Auto it says that

I am confused if I can do this, or if I have to spend money on an EPROM programmer or something. It sounds like they do a general program when you buy it, but you need to tweak it?

Ive had these mounted up for a while and have had them in everything, BUT even having them in sand im not sure how they are on beach sand, for the localish guys im going to brigatine for a 4x4 parade on saturday. My main question is am i better off airing down or keeping them where they are? ive had some tires that had best flotation at general psi, but im not sure which route to go being the first beach experience with these, any inputs awesome, dont wanna embarrass myself :D
