Rear liftgate wasn't opening so I pulled back the rear panel and checked out the mechanisms, rods, and yellow plastic pieces. They all check out, but the actual liftgate handle is broken. This piece is bolted in with unfamiliar screws/washers/rivets?? How do I remove these??? Do I need to force them off or drill them out and just all out replace them with real screws, nuts, and washers after installing a new handle?

Here are 4 pictures of the screws I'm talking about (3 from the inside and 1 from the outside)

I replaced my bulbs today on my 13 Explorer (3 weeks old) and when I went to close the hood I tried the soft approach, it didn't close, then I used my hands to push it down to lock. When I lifted them I saw I had dented the hood with one of my hands. I'm not happy, I didn't push down hard enough on the hood for something like this to happen, well obviously I did, but it seems these hoods aren't very durable, I'm not a strong person. Has anyone else had this happen to them, I wonder if I take it in if they would do anything about this....

This is a double edge sword with me... Love the power, the torque, everything about, but the torque steer is terrible at times. Tonight coming home from a dinner with the wife I decided to blow out soot out of it as I know the wife doesnt. It kicked down from 4th to second and pulled hard right almost pulling me off the road. Now Ive driven some fast cars and know how to handle them, but for a novice or the unknowing this could get someone in trouble fast. I know this pulled me a foot or more to the right.

Oh well I guess you take the good with the bad. BTW the Livernois tuning doesnt help this condition LOL. Ive actually made the wife floor it and make it kick down to experience this so she doesnt panic and know what to expect. For those who have raced such as I then you know that lifting at the wrong time can make things worse.

Ok so I have a 1999 ford explorer 5.0 Eddie Bauer, I had 5 codes before and I got rid of all of them and now a new one popped up p300 multiple random misfires. Also on the scan tool we could see that only cylinders 5, 6, 7, and 8 are the only ones misfiring. I just did the spark plug wires coil packs, everything is hooked to the right cylinder triple checked according to the Haynes manual. Also when I pulled the plugs the driver side had plugs with oil on them. I also changed a upstream driver side o2 sensor. Also cleaned the maf, did a smoke test and no vacuum leaks. I did a compression test on the driver side and it was cylinder 5 160psi, cylinder 6 170psi, cylinder 7 165psi, cylinder 8 165psi. I also just pulled the plenum off and the weird thing is all the ports in the had carbon build up but cylinder 8 had none and actually looked rusty. Also I pulled the PCV valve it came out very very easy, shook it and it shakes and blew into it and it works. I'm at a lose for ideas please anyone help.

Last year My wife and I got a new 13 base model explorer. We are happy with it and has been problem free for about 4 months. 4 months after getting our explorer we noticed sometimes the radio would stay on after we get out. To turn the radio off we would just sick the key in, turn to acc then turn the key back off. We took it to the Ford dealer and had it looked at. They couldn't get it to happen. The Ford tech we talked to pulled up the tech ford web site and found that Ford is aware of a problem like this but don't have a fix for it yet. Well here we are almost a year later and the problem is getting worse (the radio is staying on more frequently). I would like to know if anyone is having this same problem and if so have they gotten it fixed.

Not the standard question on when to do the first oil change and don't want to get into that here. Did my first swap to full synthetic at 1500 miles and the motor seems right at the midlevel on the dip stick with only 5 qts. The manual says 6 but seems like that would be well overfilled.

Anyone else done their own oil change yet and what did you find took to fill it up?

Tonight after letting it sit for awhile it still seemed the same, I added a little less then 1/3rd of the 6th qt. just to bring it up to full. Would like to hear your .02!

I just recently purchased a 1994 Ford Explorer 4wd and have been working on it since. I used to drive a 1980's Ford F250 and missed it, so with the parameters of buying a new (used) vehicle, I went back to the Ford, but not as far back as before. So far I'm pleased with the truck and it drives really well with 71,000 miles on it. Anyway, with the age of the vehicle, I figured I better get onto a forum because after awhile I'm sure I'll need to post with a call for help. I look forward to the ownership of the vehicle and have read numerous reviews from pleased owners of the 1994.

So ive looked up all the posts on 4.10 vs 4.56 and ive decided to go with
4.10's because im desert racing (dirt not sand), not 4x4ing much and it's also my daily driver. I currently have 3.55's and 31" tires. I'm going to bump up to 33" (10.5" wide, not 12.5") and im not ever going up to 35". So my question for all the gear swappers. Is it worth the money to go from 3.55's to 4.10? Keep in mind im paying for the gears and the labor to put them in. A couple hundred can go a long way somewhere else on the truck, but I also don't want to destroy my tranny/drivetrain. I guess in a nutshell, I know 4.10 is better but will 3.55 be ok for the truck?
