I have a friend that has some brand new 265 65 17 tires that he says he will give me. Since I was wanting new wheels for the explorer anyway..... I thought I might just buy some 17" wheels and take his tires (since they are FREE). :D Does anyone know if they will fit a 2001 Explorer Sport 4X4 with no lift or will I need a lift to make them work? I was thinking about going with the 17X9 Moto Metal MO951 wheel. Will it work?
Hello all. I have been reading the posts on larger tires on stock wheels. I think I would like to go with 31x10.5 on my explorer. I saw a couple posts where it was stated they would work on the stock 15x7 rims but 15x8 would be better. Why is this and what are possible problems that might arise from using 15x7 instead of 15x8. TIA Jonathan
Just wondering if this setup is possible..i really hope it is...ive decided that i want an aggressive tire with bigger rims like 18s and ill probebly have to do a little trimming b/c im not doing a lift or anything but i dont mind. so just give some opinions on what u think...31s is the size i wanna go..thats a final choice of mine..now choice of the rims is either get like 18 inch chromes or 15x8 black rock crawlers. Maybe this would help in you decsion which isnt helpin me but ill give it a try With the chrome rims i was thinking of a sleak kinda setup with chrome step sides chrome grill guard clear front and back lights. Or with the rock crawlers....Black grill guard...blacked out lights front and back..roof rack w/...
Just wondering on views about the bf goodrich all terrain and the bf goodrich mud terrain. My current tires aren't bf goodrich all terrain, but it is almost the same pattern and i havn't really noticed that much different between them and the old goodyear wrangler AP i had on before. So i was thinking i might get the Mud terrains next time, as they look nicer etc. I was wondering how they are on the road, whether you leave the road in the wet, etc. and noise issues?
Hey everyone. I have some questions for you guys being that I can’t decide on what to do. First off I have a 94 XLT 4x4 with 165K+ and going strong with no problems!!! Gotta love the Explorer So I’m getting rims but cant deiced on 20”s or 22”s. I have owned my truck for 4 years and it NEVER sees dirt roads. So that’s not a problem. I also love the big rim look! I really don’t care how the ride is on my X. My stereo has made it a rattle trap as it is so there’s no luxury in this vehicle! So here’s my questions. 1. Is it really easy to blow a tire on 22”s if you hit a pot hole. This is my first time getting rims and I don’t want to be buying new tires every few months. 2. Does this affect my 4x4 at all? I also have never...
Hey...I'm a first-timer, so I'd like to say hello. My question is this: I am able to get a really good deal on a set of 235/70R15...I currently run on 235/75R15 and am in need of new ones...what issues (speed, mpg, handling, etc.) am I facing? Thanks much. Also, can any of y'all recommend a place in Atlanta to get tires mounted (that weren't purchased at that place)? Thanks.
My 99 Explorer Sport currently sits on 285/75/16s on Factory rims, with a 3" BL, Warrior 153's and a TT... so roughly 5" of lift... I'm planning on putting a 4" Superlift suspension lift on it, and I'm wondering what would be the best wheel/tire combo... Ideally, I'd like 35's... but, I also want them to sit further out, and we a lot wider than the 285's that are on there now... I'd also like to keep with a 16" Rim... Something along those lines would be nice.. Any suggestions... ?? Si
I'm considering upgrading the front brakes on my 2000 Explorer Sport with 2WD. I have 15 inch diameter stock rims. I seem to remember seeing a thread years ago about using larger diameter Sport Trac rotors but after searching for a couple hours can't find it. I have an opportunity to purchase a set of Explorer used 16 inch diameter stock aluminum wheels which I think is required for the larger rotors. I've searched a little on the internet for Explorer performance rotors and was overwhelmed by the number of brands and options available: slotted, cross-drilled, chamfered, zinc plated, chromed, etc. There is also a multitude of brake pad types available: metallic, ceramic, etc. I don't race nor do I tow anything heavy so I'm...
