Like the majority of people that rest an elbow or arm on the center console, mine decided to wear a hole into it. I received the truck like this and couldn't stand to look at it. So ... after a trip to the local fabric store for some vinyl, here's what i came out with: http://www.boomspeed.com/puppies/console.JPG http://www.boomspeed.com/puppies/console2.JPG Notice there is a slight difference in shade. I actually picked the darker one because before the fading took place with time, this was the original color. I also like the fact that it is even a shade darker than original color because it resembles the newer explorers interiors i've seen locally. It also has the non-glare soft touch look which i like very much. My...
Picked this up from Gouky on RRORC for dirt cheap (haha, get it DIRT cheap) started cleaning it up and stripping it. Heres some orignal pics came with free mud (hell for 40bucks, i couldnt complain) used a cordless drill and a wire wheel, pulled the brakes and diff cover more to come when i get back out to work on it ScottG
Woohoo!!! I couldn't afford to buy aftermarket, so I thought I'd try my hand at metalwork. Total cost $214 CAN for the whole thing, and I'm sure it's a lot sturdier than store bought (the perfect Honda-repellent!) $30 bucks for the 1/4 in uprights (laser-cut by a buddy) $80 for the 3 in stainless pipe (from a dairy supply place...) $80 for the stainless welding inside the tubes $12 for the stainless plate for the end caps $10 for the satin black paint $2 for the stainless allen bolts and about a good 3 days of sanding and sweating. PITA to make round circles with a hacksaw!! Best part is, I now have a bar that works with my 3 in bodylift, and made some nifty tow points for 'just in case'. My thanks to...
I finally got in my wood dash kit that I won on ebay. This is a real wood dash kit not a stick on one. Every piece had to be drilled to be set into place with the black screws that came with the kit. The install was easy and it really looks nice. Go to the bottom of my post here and hit my home page and the pictures are on page 2 of my home page. Let me know what you guys think of the new Dash kit. Thanks again for the input on my dash kit.:D
Finnaly i got off my butt to fix up the horrible wiring (Thanks to a local mechanic  ) So i took off all the clips and tape and saw many wires that have been cut for some reason, truck runs without them so why do i care, or is that the reason the remote start doesnt work? Either way. heres a pic of it all before i wraped it in electrical tape. And then after. So there has been an improvement. soon il be repainting the bottom of the truck, il get some before and afters of that too!
It was supposed to take 30 minutes. It took three days. I thought I had sufficient tools. I made 4 trips to Home Depot in three different vehicles. Most of all, I got ripped off. It all started with a trip to the local 4x4 shop. I normally go to Ft. Collins 4x4, but it's 45 minutes away, so this time I went local for a brush guard. I was shown the Wildcat and liked it, so I ordered it. $215 plus tax plus something else... Then when it finally came in, I had to pay shipping, plus tax on the shipping... All in all, it cost me nearly $300. Brought it home, put it together, held it up to my bumper, and said this looks like crap. It wasn't horrible, but it just looked goofy, the brush guard parts go an inch past where they're...
Why are there no companies that make lifts for late model exlorer's that make them for all other suv's. How can they not make a lift for a the best selling suv. I have e-mailed almost every company and wholesaler that I could and they either dont e-mail me back or tell me there isn't one avalible. Every day I think "why didnt I get a jeep".
