Body Work & Detailing

Waxing washing, wheel cleaning and body work. This is the place to discuss those topics.
Hi Folks, I did a quick search for this but didn't find anything. I have a used 2013 Explorer. It was in a fender-bender before I bought it. Where the front bumper meets the fender on both sides pops out constantly. It snaps back in easily, but next time you drive it will be popped out again. Any ideas how to repair this? Here is the bumper popped out. And here's what it looks like when you pop it back in flush.
Okay, it is a stretch to post this question in the forum, my apologies if it is not appropriate but I know there are some experts on here that can give some good advice. A clown lost control of his vehicle in front of me on the interstate changing lanes and speeding in the rain. Bounced off the guard rail in front of me and I have damage on the front bumper hood, front left fender, grill, AND driver door. I have a 99 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD that to get another one in the same condition (near perfect as can be) would cost me near $3,500 to $4,000 from my experience looking at and buying four of these and then brining them up to perfect mechanical condition. The problem is the insurance company is only wanting to pay out $1,500 and keep...
Hi all I have started working on basically replacing the front clip of my 03 explorer, and was wondering if anyone had an exploded view of the front end from firewall to radiator support of the way the different panels connect together. i have removed the radiator support, and am working on the inner aprons and fender supports now. I have a donor vehicle to remove all parts from, and am using my damaged one for testing how to remove all the components without making too many mistakes. ANY help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance, DaaQ PS, i will try and do a write up on this because it is a large project. Also haven't seen one before. This will be time consuming so bear with me. Thanks again all.
Yeah, not an Explorer, but also drive one, so why not ask for help? '94 Mustang GT I bought recently has window tint all scruffed from rubbing the inside rubber gasket. Just got back from O'Reilly Auto Parts, where a bewildering number of tints was available. Store Mgr. little help, said they had explanatory booklet at rack, but it was missing. At least 6 different box-types/brands, each having 35% transmission, 20%, and 5%. One had 2.5%. No indication of tint color, or quality, or scratch resistance, etc. Priced from $9.99 to $19.99. Mgr. suggested trying Gilafilms.com. Found only propaganda. Can anyone help? imp
Ive noticed some minor rusting appearing just inside the sill of the drivers door. It looks like some paint may have been chipped off and some water damage has occured. When the door is closed it cant be seen. The rest of the bodywork is fine. The jeep is only 3 years old, so i don't want to go down the road of a paint job. What is the best solution to spray/ repair minor rust damage and prevent it from progressing? The vehicle is an Explorer Sport, and has been subjected to some off road adventures over the years. Thanks,
Hello all, I'm sorry I found this forum only after my beloved 2017 Explorer was in a crash yesterday. I got rear ended by a Camry going at a high rate of speed (I was stopped at the end of a traffic jam) on interstate 93 and was subsequently pushed into another Toyota vehicle. Since I was transported off the scene (I'm all right though) I don't have too many pictures of my vehicle. Firstly I have to say I'm impressed with the safety the car provided, thats a plus for the explorer (at least from a first glance it looks a lot less damaged than either of the Toyotas). Anyhow insurance is moving fast and asking me to find a body shop etc. I would like some advice on what to look out for in this repair process and to make sure I'm getting a...
My wife drives an 01 explorer. Last week someone backed into her in a parking lot and mangled up the passenger front door pretty good. The other drivers insurance is taking responsibility to fix it. The quote we got from the body shop was $1800. I am thinking if I can find a matching door pretty easy I can swap it on and pocket a few hundred bucks in the process. Is this a fairly common color and trim package in this era explorers? Here is the door for reference. Everything still functions perfectly fine. Just looks horrible, 20170407_083556 by Matthew Dresselhaus, on Flickr
Got an explorer sport XLT 2 door. It was in an accident recently. Vehicle tipped onto the left side and hit the guard rail but bounced back on its tires. Let's just say it left a crease on the roof. I'm looking the fix the roof. My thoughts are this: pull back on the door posts and quarter windows post if possible, then cut the rest off and make a canvas or fiberglass top for the rest. Any suggestions?
to keep a long story short, I was hit in a 4 car collision in my 2008 explorer. No damage other than plastics and tail gate. Insurance totaled it, gave me a large amount of money, and I bought it back. It only has 30 thousand miles on it. Now I am looking to replace my rear bumper and front bumper and lower trim (eddy bauer edition). Any suggestions on where to get parts? I've checked locally and nothing has turned up. Not looking to spend a ton of money on the oe ford replacement but need something that will fit half decently. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
hey guys, so I have a 95 Eddie Bauer and I've got the tan with chrome plastic molding, the chrome is completely faded and ugly. I was looking for threads on if people painted this but I couldn't find anything so here is my thread on how to do this. Here's what it looked like before, Not the most appealing and quite ugly if you ask me. Now to start of you are going to need : Spray Paint (what I used, of any color) Tape (and lots of it!) Paper/bags(optional, to cover the car) To start off tape off the molding for the vehicle like you see here Now I recommend if anyone does this that this Isn't enough tape, I fortunately had a clay bar on hand to remove overspray. Anyway after your done taping, choose a color of any Spray paint...
