Well, I did it again. I convinced my parents to pick up an Explorer and get rid of that detestable Heep. Thanks to Russell, I was able to procure Baxter Bandit from him and already it has made quite an impression. Specs 1996 Eddie Bauer 5.0 V8 AWD 161k Saddle Tan Leather interior 255/70/16's on Sport Trac wheels Rare built in child's seat Sunroof Maintenance New water pump Newer radiator New thermostat Oil change - Valvoline High mileage 10w-30 w/ STP oil filter.
Registry Version 2.0 (Warning: Lots and LOTS of pictures...) The story of Blue Bandit is a long and fun-filled adventure...well, ok not really. This Explorer has been though Hell and high water, all over the US, and has put up with my abuse for almost 10 years now. This is my constant and ongoing project vehicle, and the epitome of the Bandit name. I would like to say that I have a direction with the design and revised engineering of this vehicle, but it's always changing. I'm making this truck my own, designed in my own image. Not to mention the sentimental value of it, as it was my first car when and I have had it since I was 15. But first, a little background.. The vehicle is a 1992 Eddie Bauer manufactured in April '92. It was...

I made the move to elite membership after receiving helpful information from the "awesome" members on the site. I've saved some serious money by doing it myself. Plus its gives you a good feeling that you did yourself. I am just amazed at the information on the site. I have a 93 Explorer "Eddie Bauer". Its my first 4X4, and I'm loven it. I live in Michigan and I not a big fan of the snow. But the Ex helps to get through some tuff driving at times. Looking forward to having a super time. Thanks, Brian
Ah...the story of Indigo Bandit is a magical and wonderful tale of...of..uh...boredom really. See, up to this point, (july 2010) I already owned 3 Explorers, Blue, Shade, and Conner (Conner was a short lived 97 XLT 2WD I bought off of my buddy's sister, then sold to my neighbor) So you may be asking yourself where Indy came into play? Well, simple enough answer...I have always wanted a V8 explorer. So One day I was surfing local craiglist ads for explorers, like I always do every day, and saw this 97 XLT V8 AWD for sale...for a 1000 dollars. I thought, 'well, whats wrong with it?' What else made me leary is I had seen it on craigslist for about 3 weeks prior as different listings, so he kept reposting it. But, it was in town...
(Note: This registry is for Kris G. I do not own or condone anything Kris does with this truck :p:) Yep folks, another Bandit. Just what you were hoping for. This one is a 1998 Charcoal Green limited SOHC V6 with ControlTrac 4WD. This truck originally ended up in my possession after doing some automotive work for a guy and Kermit was payment. Can't pass up free trucks! Anyway, Kris and I were discussing the concept of building an explorer out of the spare parts he and I had laying around. Only problem was, we didnt have a frame or shell to start one...until this limited fell in my lap. So Kris came up back in April 2011 to help with the 5R55E swap in Blue, and we continued discussing this limited. We worked out...
So, lets start at the top, on June 23, 2011, at about 1pm I bought my 1996 Eddie Bauer Edition V8 AWD Ford Explorer, which to be honest I really didn't want, What I really wanted was a 4x4 V8 pickup truck, but I settled for The Explorer because it was in my price range, and it seemed like a good buy. This is the Day before I bought it... It had about 152,x.. miles on it, and I paid $2600 out the door for it. I am fairly certain the DAY OF buying the Explorer I joined this site!!! About a week later the Alternator gave up the ghost, so it sort of gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Regardless I went here found out how to replace it and fixed my truck, YAY ME! it took me a solid week to clean it up to my liking, but when it was done I...
(For the history and previous ownership of this vehicle, please click here) Well, I recently went down to Austin, Texas for the week and spent some time working with Kris Guillbeaux on his trucks and attending the John_Rock Memorial Run in Marble Falls. I had a great time and a blast down there. But I also went down there to pick up SVO's 1992 Mazda Navajo. This truck is pretty well known on the forum, and I am very honored to get the chance to continue building it. So with trailer in tow, I went on down and Kris and I hung with SVO and StangGirl for an afternoon, and also had some fun at MrQ's expense  The truck does come sans motor and transmission, and at the time SVO was planning a turbo coupe swap in it. My plans...

Welcome to my latest build thread - this has been a project I have been planning for a few years now. This is 1994 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 2dr I’ve named Reef Bandit. It’s a Cayman Green Eddie Bauer which has always been a favorite color of mine on the Eddie Bauer. I found Reef about a year ago wasting away in a field; his title was lost and it had exchanged hands a few times. I got the vin and when we ran the uniqueness of the options of this particular vehicle, it was a 1 of 1 production. The only thing this Explorer had that none of it’s other 8 Cayman Green clones possessed was a factory JBL sound system with CD player. Overall, this is a very rare Explorer. I had to buy it. The title work was a pain but I was able...
Seeing as how I am up to my chest hairs with explorers, might as well actually create registries for them  Got one for Blue (as severely lacking as it is) so I'll start one for Shade. Shade is my 1997 Ford Explorer Limited. The truck is completly bone stock, as I plan to keep it. Much to Kris Guilbeaux's angst, I will not be lifting it, and it will not be called that which shall not be spoken  Anywho, I purchased Shade from Manhatten, Kansas back in March of 2010. Shade was my first 'second' explorer (and a second gen at that) of mine, so I was pumped. I never really remembered what made me search for a second one, but I blame the forum :p: I found this rig on craigslist, and the seller was advertizing it...
So here we go, adding yet another Bandit to the stable. I think this makes number 7...I've lost count  So here are the basic specs, it's a 1993 Limited 4x4, fully loaded (meaning it has a sunroof) and let's just say it fell into my lap :D It's still in Tulsa where I purchased it, but I will pick it up on 5-23-2011. It's white with tan interior, and considering how long it has been sitting (18+ months) it's not in horrible shape, but is showing wear. Mechanically, it needs a fuel pump and the PO said she was putting in about 2 quarts of ATF everyweek so there is a leak somewhere...the way the ground was, I couldn't get underneath it to look. The paint is in fair condition, a few scratches here and there, there is some...
Well, it is about time I do this This is our 1998 Mountaineer. We acquired it in late 2000, with 29 k on the odometer. Previously it prowled the Oklahoma turnpike as an unmarked police cruiser. I would say it was about June-2001, when the initial madness set in, and I became obsessed with changing the looks. I found Explorer Express, Where I scored the x-spec suspension. After talking with John V., I learned of the Apten group buy here, and the rest is as they say, history. In June of 2002, I acquired an exhaust leak. Being the expert I thought I was, I bought a header gasket set, went to fix it. Well, in my thinking I didn't have the front bolt tight enough, I snapped it off into the head---ooops. After pouting about this for awhile...
************************************** I'm an Elite Explorer now! ************************************** Starting this car from Stock and will update pictures as I progress! :exp: 4.0l V-6, Advance Trac, 4dr, 2x4 **Before Anyone asks, I have a Lifted Dually Cummins and my brother has a 40th anniversary Mustang. So I decided to go with a retro/blacked look, to include Body kit, underglow, interior glow, C02 Dual Valve Purge Kit, Wheel Well glow, Custom painted rims and brake calipers, and a few other small things. When I order body-kit and get it installed the whole vehicle will be painted Black w/ Purple flake. All lighting will be Purple, Brake Calipers Purple.
