After saying goodbye to my 1992 Explorer in 2004, i've always wanted to get another 1st gen. Yesterday it actually happened when i took ownership of The Black Goblin, a 1991 Explorer 4x4. :D IT currently has less than 88,000 miles on the odometer, with the original engine and a replaced/rebuilt auto trans. I strongly encourage all members of Explorerfoum to read this thread, or skim over my dry writing and just look at the photos. Hopefully you can find a usefull tip or learn a little bit about your...

I can't seem to stay away from the Explorer world for more than a year. I just checked out a '94 XLT earlier this evening. She's in a rather rough state at the moment but I have plans for a nice winter truck for her. Specs: 1994 XLT Condition of the motor: unknown Trans: not really there Transfercase: taking up space in the boot. It has minimal rust for an 18 year old truck with 160k on the clock. Trans died and the owner decided to try to rebuild it himself. No such luck. It's currently sitting in a guys shop with the motor and two axles. All the parts are there except the trans which is junk. Body work is nice and straight. The passenger rocker has disappeared and a small amount of rust at the top of the rear arches...
Thanks for checking out my thread! I've owned about a dozen 1st & 2nd gen Explorers over the last 8 years. I've done Dana 44's on a 1st gen, coilovers on a 2nd gen, uniball uppers, leveling kits, lift kits, fabricated a handful of front ends, shock hoops, bedcages, the list goes on and on. For my latest truck, I began my search towards the end of last summer & actually started out looking for a 2nd gen, (I really like the ones with the AC in the center console). Thankfully this truck was not needed as a daily driver, so I was able to take my time. I happen to stumble across this extremely clean 1st gen that reminded me so much of my favorite Explorer, which was also a white 94 with black wheels. I could not pass this truck up. Here in...
This is my 96 Explorer D.D. slow moving project, was bought in September of 07. XLT model which is like XLS model, power windows/mirrors and that's it. Mods: Removed the running boards Brown-Wire-mod but have swapped in a 97 GEM so I don't drain my battery anymore. And have disconnected the plug under my hood to have a "live" axle type setup for now until a locker is installed and until I decide when to put a manual t-case in. (manual case in now) 4-29-11 33" tires 4.88 G2 Gears Swapped in different hvac controls. Sony Headunit Boss 1200W Class D Mono Amp Pioneer 12" 1200W Sub for a little bass I plan to have it a little more off-road capable nothing extreme just enough to be able to tackle some descent trails and be a descent truck...
Well after parting ways with my 2005 Ford Explorer, I picked up a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT. I know who the last owner was, and they took great care of it. It has a few scratches and dents, but otherwise it's in great shape! It has the 5.0L V8 with AWD. It has a 3.55 open differential, and 107,900 miles. Since my last Explorer got named the "Golden Bandit" this one will be named... The "Harvest Bandit" as the color is Harvest Gold. Enough chat, more pics:
Hi every one out there. My name is Chris and I drive a 99 Explorer Sport. It used to be a 4.0 SOHC 4X4 and now it has new life as a 5.0 V8 AWD. Right now she sits on stock sizes tires with rims off of a 2010 Ranger. Any ways the girl friend likes to name all of my cars so she named it Black Beauty. So now I guess I need to do some black out work. Any way here is a list of mods that have been done and a list of what will be done. Mods Include Interior 01 Sport Seats 01 Sport Instrument Cluster w/LED's Remote Start with Alarm installed by me. Sony Head Unit Pioneer Speakers in the front Cerwin Vega Speakers in the rear Kicker CVX 10" 1200 Watt max subwoofer JL Stealth Subwoofer Box Rockford Fosgate p500-2 1000 Watt max amp LED Interior...
So, I found this today(9/5/08) and saw how cluttered it was and how upset it made me. So I took it upon my self to fix it up and kinda make it like a time line. I hope I get dates too :) So here we go please tell me what you think! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7/29/07 - This is an hour after I got my truck home from the dealership. I had not even shown my Mom the truck at this point in time. Most of you know my truck from what it looks like now. It has changed a lot Along with me, that was 4 months after getting out of the 2 month long trip in the hospital. Coma, Brain surgery, Arm rebuild, much more. So I had gained a lot of...

Blueka's "Betty" Registry I thought it was about time I put one up.. I've got a '97 4.0 SOHC UK spec Explorer.. I bought it in Dec 2005 and the next day all the timing slipped and wrecked one side of the engine! It was off the road for 6 months while I saved up and found someone who knew how to fix it. This is how it looked when I got it back:- After driving it for a while I decided that I didn't like all the chrome on it so got some '99 spec bumpers for it. I also changed to a slightly newer grille with a darker centre, thought it looked better than the old one. I then decided I was bored of the rear end and did the '99 rear end swap.. although I managed to bend the rear hatch and it don't sit straight...
Well as many know, I haven't had my explorer for quite some time. That has all changed since about 1 hour ago. I bought Mark's Explorer from him this morning (Felix on the board) and I'm already loving it. This is my old one. This is the 'new' one. Here is the link to Mark's write up of my Explorer. Write up of Explorer ______________________________________________________________ 6/15/2006 UPDATE Well, I figured I'd update this since it came back up. The new look: Took off the brush guard and painted the EB tan to black. ______________________________________________________________ 7/13/06 Update Added a wristed arm... ...so I can do this: I also swapped the front EZ-locker for a True Trac L/S...

Registry Version 2.0 (Warning: Lots and LOTS of pictures...) The story of Blue Bandit is a long and fun-filled adventure...well, ok not really. This Explorer has been though Hell and high water, all over the US, and has put up with my abuse for almost 10 years now. This is my constant and ongoing project vehicle, and the epitome of the Bandit name. I would like to say that I have a direction with the design and revised engineering of this vehicle, but it's always changing. I'm making this truck my own, designed in my own image. Not to mention the sentimental value of it, as it was my first car when and I have had it since I was 15. But first, a little background.. The vehicle is a 1992 Eddie Bauer manufactured in April '92. It was...
