Hi everybody my names frank and from Orange County California but currently live in Riverside County. I have a 2003 Explorer Sport XLT 2WD. I bought it in 2010 after graduating hs for around 8k from the dealer, it was a one owner with only 44,000 thousand miles at the time. For the first year of owning it, it was completely stock with only bfg all-terrains in stock size changed on it. But then..... I found this forum after searching for some issue I was having at the time, don't really remember what it was. After that I slowly started changing things on my ex and making it more too my liking. My ex is 2wd and most of the stuff I've done to it now is more for personal preference but I plan on making it desert worthy in the next...

I recently picked up a 1996 XLT to use as a DD. And like always Bandit Customs came thru!! NICE59FORDF100 had already named the vehicle "Layla Bandit", the name will remain Layla Bandit. It started when Russel was here in Hamilton working on The Green Buffalo with easymc and myself. He mentioned that he and Kris Guilbeaux were having a 96X coming to Bandit Customs that was going to be used as a resale. We spoke on this subject for a bit and the asking price with coming from Bandit Customs were too good to pass. I had a 99 Tahoe as a dd that was nothing more than a money pit and I was not even driving it since it seemed I was lucky just to make it to town and back without a malfunction occurring. Kris notified me when the...
Well, i figured i would share the story of my explorer to start out it was a hot day ought bout 2 years ago when the telegram was delivered, "greetings" STOP "i am relocating and everything must go" STOP so i stumble over to a friend of a friend of a friends plumbers brothers mail mans friends house. Names Mike, from king of prussia, PA. Drive a 98 explorer 4 door 5 spd. Lifted it 2" TT and shackles, 33x10.50 bfg all terrains. Soon to do a body lift and SAS/ SOA. Bought it with 179k has 206k and still running strong. Love this thing will bever get rid of it. It has no name for the expo. Lot more mods to come for this thing.
Here it is, has some great mods. I take no credit for any of the mods done on this vehicle. The guys i got it from are basically the Messiahs of Explorers. Im lucky enough to live real close to them and help them out occasionally. Im sure some of you will recognize this truck, and know who im talking about. Ever since they brought this truck home i had been drooling over it. Not sure why but i immediately fell in love with it. Anyways tell me what yall think. I have a 2" skyjacker lift ordered, aals came in today actually. Just waiting on the springs. My plan is to have a few more mods done by May so i can go to Moab. P.S. I know some of you are going to ask, but the truck has 31s on it and no lift in the pics. Fenders are cut...
When I first picked it up: And how it is right now (11/01/2016): Basically I'm making my explorer into a dedicated overland vehicle for my off road adventures. SPECS: 1994 Ford Explorer XL 195xxx Miles (I bought it south of the border in Vancouver WA.) 4.0 5 speed electric transfer case (soon to be manual) upgraded manual locking hubs Dimpled and slotted front disks 5.5" Superlift 33x12.5x15 MT's Removed rear seats and installed a sleeping platform (not finished) Rear hatch Light switch mod Rear hatch interior pull handle (to open hatch from inside)
Registry Version 2.0 (Warning: Lots and LOTS of pictures...) The story of Blue Bandit is a long and fun-filled adventure...well, ok not really. This Explorer has been though Hell and high water, all over the US, and has put up with my abuse for almost 10 years now. This is my constant and ongoing project vehicle, and the epitome of the Bandit name. I would like to say that I have a direction with the design and revised engineering of this vehicle, but it's always changing. I'm making this truck my own, designed in my own image. Not to mention the sentimental value of it, as it was my first car when and I have had it since I was 15. But first, a little background.. The vehicle is a 1992 Eddie Bauer manufactured in April '92. It was...
Well for awhile now, I've been looking for a second gen Sport with a manual transmission. a few days ago, I came across one for $800, the guy said it was clean, and needed a fuel pump. So I checked it out, like it for the most part. It had a few big scratched on the rear left quarter panel, and the obviously hit something with the front right, because the hood and quarter panel are a little beat. Oh well, the rest of the body is great, the interior is great (Compared to mine) Great! He said it had some transmission work and engine work done. Alright, cool. Looking under it, it was quite clean for having 170k miles on it, and ALMOST NO RUST. but we jumped it to hear it turn over, and it sounded alright. However, I still found...
Figured I'd get a thread started on where I've been and where I'm going with this truck. I bought it last year with 55,000 miles on it, immaculate. Here's how I got it from the dealership: 4x4 4.10 Gears Pioneer Audiophile System Leather Fog lights Running boards (removed) Bed Extender Power Moonroof 5 spoke cast aluminum wheels Curt Class III Hitch The first modification I made was to add Warrior shackles. Second thing I did was remove the running boards. No pictures. Then, I found a body lift from a girl on Craigslist. I went to meet her and she had a huge 2wd ST lifted and on 35s. She thought the body lift was going to make it sit too high. I took that problem off her hands for $80. A few months after it sitting...
