Thought id go ahead and finally get this going now that my rig is functional, I started out with my 97 4.0 sohc sport. I bought it in 05 from its original owner with I think around 183,000 miles, I drove it and did small upgrades like autodimming rear view, new pioneer speakers, Monroe coil overs, 99 front bumper and fear hatch, I also did the usual maintainance like upper and lower balljoints ( motorcraft) swaybar links and bushings ( energy suspension) rebuilt rear, tranny rebuild, ect...then I finally started getting the death rattle from the sohc timing parts around 240,000 miles so i started gathering parts for my v8 swap, do not do what I did if you want to do this swap! Get a whole donner vehical, so it was at this point that I...

Hello there, I have been a long time follower here on Serious Explorations. This site has helped me out countless times with my explorer. I don't usually post much, but now that I am starting a project I would love to share it with everyone. Over the next year or so i'll posting my progress with the Merc (Red Dragon). Stats on the Merc: 1998 AWD 5.0 V8, everything is stock .....for now! Plans for the Merc: SAS SOA BW 4406 t-case swap dana 44 front stock 8.8 rear-with adapters for now, planning on doing an ultimate 8.8 kit in the future (scrapped my rear dana 44 idea with some thanks to fellow members) front off road bumper...
Hey guys, been around lurking on the site for a while and just became elite a few months ago. Finally getting around to creating my first registry so here goes. My Explorer is a 1998 XLT with 125k miles on it. It is light blue metallic in color with a blue interior. My dad bought it new in 98, traded a first gen that was having problems on this one. Its first role in my family was my moms grocery getter/ errand runner; then my dad drove it back and forth to work for a while (about and hour round trip everyday). Then I got the Explorer with 85k miles on it when I got my license about 5 years ago. Interestingly, the factory brake pads lasted until this point and really still were not due to be changed-- amazing to me! The explorer has...
Well ive been on this website a little while and have gotten numerous people asking about different things that I have done. Some examples would be the Fabtech lift spindles, rear sway bar disconnects, front hitch. So I thought I would create my registry where people could ask questions if needed. Name is Blake and here is Ol' Dallas (my gf named it that, no idea why but its stuck) I bought it with 50,000 miles and bone stock. As soon as I found this website to learn how to change the thermostat housing, I knew that had to change :D For the front suspension I have Fabtech Ranger Edge 3" Lift spindles and the Torsion bars cranked about an inch. The rear suspension is some warrior 153 shackles and procomp add a leaf. About 4" all...
Ok, time to consolidate and register this new gal. So I bought this one on May 17, 2013. Had 86k miles and came from Florida, so pretty much rust free. So wonderful to work on a truck that doesn't have rust falling all in your eyes, and bolts that aren't seized and fused into everything. The Timeline: Super Stock! For About Two Days :D - P255/70/R16 The First Mod - RCI Metalworks Skid Plate Wheels and Tires Installed, Zero Lift Yet 1.5"TT and War 153 Shackles Westin Grille Guard Finally, Bodylift Installed and No More Rub! I finally decided I needed to give my 01 a break from constant DD duty, so I found myself a nice 2010 XLT to take over. Rides very good and is in good shape. Only thing is that the mileage is awful compared to the 01's V8. I call her... Hello Gentlemen! Pull up a chair and grab a beer. I understand the registry is where we give the who/where/what/when/why of our Explorers. So, here I go... I recently bought my Explorer: 1999 5.0 V-8 AWD Limited White Pearl with Light Prairie Tan pinstripes Light Prairie Tan Leather interior Moonroof MACH audio system A little history. My Explorer was ordered new near my hometown in midwestern Ohio by an older gentleman. He drove it for a couple of years, then parked it in the garage due to failing health. After he passed away, his family sold it to the Ford dealership in my hometown. Typical midwestern small town. My mother taught with the wife of the Service Manager, and went to high school with...
This Explorer has quite the story! It all started as a stock as they always do, but had been rolled over. It still ran great and we could see the potential. My brother bought it from another Explorer fanatic that had plans for it, but just didn't have the time. I had developed a taste for local tuff truck racing in a little 6-7 race series here in Mid-Missouri. My first races were at the end of 2010 in just a beater Ranger for fun after hearing about the event. That got me hooked and for 2011 series I had built a Reg Cab Orange Ranger with a 5.0, 5spd, Duff Longarm kit and built an interior cage my 1st cage work :) The truck was a blast, I raced several races and brought home quite a few trophies and cash. Near the end of the season...

Well on 13th of this month. (My b-day) I went and bought the woman a 98 V8 AWD XLT for $2700. She has been wanting a 4 door something for a while now. With with 2 kids both in car seats I can understand. As for mods the list will probably stay small. But any ways here is the plan of mods for it so far. She likes the ranger wheels on my sport and hers needs tires soon so she will get the ranger wheels and my v8 sport will be getting some 18s put on it. Remove roof rack install later model bumper and color match it to the body install side skirts/wheel lips and color match to the body Cold air intake electric fan remote start remove chrome grill and replaced with a color matched one Well that is all I can think of for now. Completed...
Hi every one out there. My name is Chris and I drive a 99 Explorer Sport. It used to be a 4.0 SOHC 4X4 and now it has new life as a 5.0 V8 AWD. Right now she sits on stock sizes tires with rims off of a 2010 Ranger. Any ways the girl friend likes to name all of my cars so she named it Black Beauty. So now I guess I need to do some black out work. Any way here is a list of mods that have been done and a list of what will be done. Mods Include Interior 01 Sport Seats 01 Sport Instrument Cluster w/LED's Remote Start with Alarm installed by me. Sony Head Unit Pioneer Speakers in the front Cerwin Vega Speakers in the rear Kicker CVX 10" 1200 Watt max subwoofer JL Stealth Subwoofer Box Rockford Fosgate p500-2 1000 Watt max amp LED Interior...
So, I've bought (4) 3rd Gen. Explorers and finally found the one I will be keeping for myself. Bought the dark blue 2005 for my girlfriend. White 2002 "Limited" to fix and be mine, but don't want to put in the work. Light blue 2003 to part out since it didn't have a title and previous owner used it as an ashtray basically. This weekend I bought Not8taxi on here's Explorer. It is in very good condition and was very well maintained. On to the pics,
Hello My name is Gilbert (Gil) and I live in Orlando, Fl. I'm a biker, the fun friendly type not the crazy (some of my friends would disagree on this) and too scary looking to talk to type. I'm an electronics technician and computer nerd. I've worked on enough cars and bike to know that give me good directions and tools and I can take anything apart and usually put it back together so it works. Well enough about me and now to what everyone is more concerned about my Ex. A little over a year ago a friend of mine was having tranny problems with her 92 Explorer 4x4. She didn't have the money to fix it and was just going to sell it to one of those "We buy junk cars" places. I told her that she would only get $250 or so for it and she...
