Truck as purchased, Christmas Eve 2002 Got lost on the way to the mall..... Offroading in New Hampshire. November 2003 Introduction I have set up this thread to detail my modifications, provide some step by step instructions for many of them, list my tips for general maintence procedures, and even throw a writeup or two of anytime I decide to subject my truck to the abuse of off-pavement driving. I strongly encourage all members of Explorerfoum to read this thread, or skim over my dry writing and just look at the photos. Hopefully you can find a usefull tip or learn a little bit about your...
Alright, for sometime now I've wanted to create one of these, but I was too lazy and figured no one cared about what I was doing. But today I decided that if for nothing else this can at least be a way for me to see the progress I have made, even if I look at, or drive my car almost everyday. If you come here expecting to see updated pics all the time it won't happen but I will reply to any questions and comments as soon as I see them. To start the show, here it is, The earliest photo I have of it is this one: But here is the current state: (need new photo) Exterior: (to be added once I get outside tomorrow and there is light [just realized still never took these photos]) Interior: (same thing can be said here) Secondary Car...

New Explorer to add to the garage: Specs: 4.0 SOHC 5r55e 2WD 3.73 gears Graphite Leather Sunroof 266k miles Audiophile Sound Engine apparently has been replaced as well as the transmission. I picked it up for a song with a working SOHC with no "Death Rattle" and a leaking transmission line. Also all the electronics work, minus the overhead console, and as a cool bonus, the A/C works!! (pun intended) The bad: 3 different brands of tires Ball Joints and Tie Rods Shot Body Mount Bushings Shot Interior Needs Work This is the poorly patched transmission line that initiated the sale. Looks like they used some very thin rubber tubing and it just split, dumping the ATF. :wtf: I replaced with 100psi oil tubing and two hose clamps...
Finally Elite Explorer! Thanks everyone for your help over the last couple years! I don't really know how to go about this, so bear with me. This is how it looked when I got it. I really, really loved my Explorer. I spent about a year and a half just fixing it up, adding my own touches and learning how to work on a vehicle. I had my moments where I wanted to take a shotgun to it. (Mostly when replacing the fuel pump) Then I got a job and finally got it road legal, and about a week after getting insurance, I got in a crash. (I will elaborate if anyone's really curious as to what happened. I will say, it was 0% my fault) Then I bought a parts Explorer for $200! The engine was on it's way out and it needed a TON of work. But...

Only real difference between the two are the added radius arms. The 5.5" duff kit is a bit out of my price range so I am figuring this and a SOA will work well enough. 35x12.50 BFG MTs...
What better time than now to do this. Here is my old 94 http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100935 Just when my transmission crapped out again, I saw my current 91 for sale on this forum. Joe (Lilmule) owned the truck since new and moved to Milwaukee. When I got this truck I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Honestly, I purchased the truck for the glass fenders and C4/C5 transmission setup. I didn't want to deal with TTB, didn't know who "Autofab" was and didn't like that it was spring under and had some 9" axle that I knew nothing about. Here was the plan, combine these 2 trucks, solid axles, updated glass, C4/C5 tranny, 37" swampers, and ditch the blue truck. Luckily for me and this...

Welcome to my new registry. This is my 2000 Explorer XLT. Bought it from the original owner for $3,400. Came with the owners manual, and the paper work to prove it's been dealer maintained. When I purchased the Ex, it had 111,000 on the odometer, a small tear in the leather of the drivers seat, some sand in the back( take it the guy was a surfer, found a few surf board fins in the jack storage area). Gonna do a alignment when I get the chance, and start transferring all my mods from my Sport into this. As she stands when I brought her home. How she currently stands. 04/07/11 Current Mods: Interior: Tan Leather, power seats, windows, locks. LED Front dome light. Alpine HU with Kenwoods all around. Garmin Nuvi 1390...
So, lets start at the top, on June 23, 2011, at about 1pm I bought my 1996 Eddie Bauer Edition V8 AWD Ford Explorer, which to be honest I really didn't want, What I really wanted was a 4x4 V8 pickup truck, but I settled for The Explorer because it was in my price range, and it seemed like a good buy. This is the Day before I bought it... It had about 152,x.. miles on it, and I paid $2600 out the door for it. I am fairly certain the DAY OF buying the Explorer I joined this site!!! About a week later the Alternator gave up the ghost, so it sort of gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Regardless I went here found out how to replace it and fixed my truck, YAY ME! it took me a solid week to clean it up to my liking, but when it was done I...
