So I sold my 03 ranger and it was a sad day. I had been looking for something slightly more family friendly and still capable (with a little help of course) and I had my eyes out for a first gen in good running shape. Well the search went on for several months, when a red sled came up for sale almost 400 miles away but it would give me a chance to visit family. However, it disappeared and I thought nothing of it. It magically reappear on a consignment auction slightly closer (350 vs 400 miles). So I contacted the owner. Come to find out this is a 2 owner truck that was purchased by the former owners mother in '93 and then when she stopped driving, he bought it and drove it for the next 6 years. I probably gave a little much for...

This is my second 2nd Gen Explorer. I bought it on July 2nd of this year and was FINALLY glad to find one with a V8. Found it on Craigslist for $1650 with 233K Miles. It had some cosmetic damage and needed tires badly. It also has an aftermarket sunroof which needs to fixed. I can hear the motor working fine but it's not moving. Interior was in good shape for the most part just needed minor things but here it is. The day I got it home with my Explorer

Yeah , I get to hang with the cool folk now hunh ? I'll post some pix as soon as I can figure out how. I don't have the most vast knowledge of computers. Either way my Ex is rather ordinary lookin' ( right now ) Other than the fact it ( for the most part ) remains completely spotless. I do wax my door jambs.
Seeing as how I am up to my chest hairs with explorers, might as well actually create registries for them  Got one for Blue (as severely lacking as it is) so I'll start one for Shade. Shade is my 1997 Ford Explorer Limited. The truck is completly bone stock, as I plan to keep it. Much to Kris Guilbeaux's angst, I will not be lifting it, and it will not be called that which shall not be spoken  Anywho, I purchased Shade from Manhatten, Kansas back in March of 2010. Shade was my first 'second' explorer (and a second gen at that) of mine, so I was pumped. I never really remembered what made me search for a second one, but I blame the forum :p: I found this rig on craigslist, and the seller was advertizing it...
Just bought on 12/31/08 1994 Ford explorer eddie bauer 4.0 ohv 111,413k miles bought for $1500. It needs a good cleaning, new tires w/ alignment, a good sub and speakers (hitting up walmart tomorrow, my brother doesnt care about the OEM stuff but i cant stand it) eventually new shocks, and some odds and ends interior/exterior bits just to make it nicer overall. It needs a good buffing for sure i have no doubt at one point someone keyed this truck, but it isnt thru the paint atleast. Anyways heres pictures before i started cleaning anything. Here is the absolutely retarded "subwoofer" basically the stock cone is blown (I tested it, it just vibrates and pulsates terribly) and this one anything past volume 3 just garbles...
Recently joined the forum after purchasing our 2004 Explorere XLT V8 4wd to replace our ailing '04 Pontiac Montana. I've already benefited from the knowledge base here having diagnosed the rear ABS sender malfunction and how to find the combination key code. Along with the repairs mentioned we've replaced the passenger side rear wheel bearing and and the shift indicator needle assembly. I have some regular maintenance stuff I'll be doing as we go along. As we bought her... Broken fog light... A little bit of wear and tear on the driver's seat... Yes we are members of the split rear trim club... The "X" came with really nice winter tires on the stock alloy rims so we decided to pick up new wheels with new summer...
Bronchole's 1997 5.0 Mountaineer/4406/SAS/SOA I lucked in to an awesome deal on this Mountaineer in June of 2012. I picked it up from Jim (nssJ2) for a screaming deal of $4500. Only catch was I had to go to Colorado to get it. That ended up being a great vacation for my family. We spent a few days visiting with friends and broke the drive home up with a couple stops on the way back (Moab, Brice canyon, Zion and Las Vegas). The rig was everything I expected it to be and some. It has a few quirks, but all-in-all Jim did a fine job with all the projects he did to it. By far the cleanest set of PO installations I have ever dealt with. Interesting factoid here. My friend Pete has been instrumental in the purchase of my last 2 off...
Post updated: My name is Vince, I live south of Pittsburgh, Pa. I bought my explorer after i graduated high school(july 08) with 50k for 3500 The Ex: 97 explorer sport, SOHC/auto, leather, moon roof, + mods... The x: It had 50k miles on it when i got it, and had only minimal rust. Since then the rust has been fixed, and I'm over 100k. Maintenance has been typical with plugs/wires, fuel filter, all 4 ball joints and a thermostat. Running Mobil 1 syn has seemed to quiet the timing chain rattle. Its totally quiet in the summer, and slightly louder in the cold weather. CURRENT STATE: 12/2011 @101k -front skid plate -removed front valance -relocated front fog lights -clear corners -safari bar/lights (victim of rust and off...
I picked up one of them controversial 2011-2013 Explorers the other night for the wife. :D She absolutely loves it so far. Twelve hours after buying it we headed on our first road trip up to WA State. I averaged 21.5 mpg and half of that was mountain passes. So I'm pretty happy. The technology in this thing is pretty insane. Especially compared to my Super Duty. Anyway, I think this is going to make a great little family hauler. Kids love the moon roofs!

Gatorblazer's Elite (Updated) ***********Continually updating. Check the end of the thread for new stuff***** Due to the large amount of cash I have saved due to this site, and because I have two of these wonderful SUV's, I decided to become elite. I would love to post pics, but am having a bit of trouble. So until then, I will tell a little about myself and the Explorer's. My wife and I live in Bham with our doglike cat Putter. He is a stray I found while working on a sewer replacement. He sounds like a little Briggs motor just putting around, so she named him Putter. We have two Explorer's a 93 and a 95 both 2wd. The 95 is a salvage title (rolled 4 times) with 175K and no problems, no leaks. Best car Ive ever had...
