Solid Axle Swap Registry

If you have completed a solid axle swap on your Explorer and would like to share the results with others this is the place to do it:D This isn't the place to talk about a work in progress, rather a place for the FINAL results, specs, instructions etc
YESSSSSS Well she is driving now. I spent 3 days at a friends house and we had a blast. My junk its a currie built 9" with YJ outers. Stupid lift 5.5 coils. Rancho 5000 shocks with 15 inches travel. There are 5.13 gears riding on an ARB air locker. Warn manuals (of course) and maintained the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. Long radius arms (will be heim jointed soon) and all custom steering. We literaly finished this project just a few hours ago. There is a few small things left to do but I drove it the 2 hours home tonight and It drove FAR better than it did with the TTB, and ZERO bump steer, I mean NONE. You will see why when you see the pics. I must thank my friend for all his help and his and his wife's hospitality...

Hey guys, I just pretty much finished the major fabrication of my SAS on my 92 Sploder, still need tires cuz I dont think 32s will look too good. It is a Dana 30 (dont laugh), and Im not sure how much lift it is but I need a new front driveline. It barely bolts up to the axle fully extended. My question is what did you guys do for your drivelines?...did you get it custom made or what? I have some more pics but here is a couple if my truck , if it helps...thanks.
Took 4 months but 1/2 that time was waiting for more $ to come in to finish up. Again with mods, I had to go the unbeaten path to see what works and what doesn't. Fortunately for me, this worked out well with no kinks I can think of. - Low Pinion Dana 44 from 2001 Dodge Ram shortened to use Wagoneer left & right inner shafts with stock Ram outer shafts. The good - Stock Ram Dual piston calipers 12" rotors - Chrome moly inner axle shafts - Low pinion chunk with great clearance to frame - Sealed hubs, 4x4 on demand, no more regreasing bearings, nut torquing etc. - Custom Radius arm design allowing me to unbolt passenger upper arm for 3 link radius arm or wristed arm setup for more articulation. The Bad - Sealed hubs, no more manual...
Well since I don't have the time/tools/skills to build my own, but I do have the money, this isn't going to be a build log, just show the final product since I don't have much for "during" pics. Dana 30, trussed and gussetted. 4.56 gears, Eaton Truetrac (front and rear), SOA with Chevy 1500 63" leafs, 1354 manual transfer case, F-150 steering box.

Grape Ape SAS..finally!!! Hey everyone, I know this is a Ranger, but several people here have asked for me to post my conversion on this board. Enjoy! Here are the main facts: '97 Ranger S/C 4x4 currently running 36" swampers - soon to be 38" SX's Front Axle: Chevy full width, 3/4 ton (8 lug - passenger side diff) Dana 44, with 5:38 gears, open (Lock-Right coming soon). Located by custom radius arms made from 1 3/4" .250 wall tubing. The ends use bushings and the rear mount is the same as a Ranger/EX. I cut up some old radius arms and welded the threaded part into the tubing. These arms will be changed in the future for better movement. But for now, I will just remove one of the upper arms while off-road, to not hinder the...
Hey all, don't know why I took so long to officially register it, maybe because It will never really be done, but anyway has been officially SAS'd for a while so here it is. The axles were from a 78 (79?) F-150 -I`d like to give special thanks to the great members and organizer's of this site for input, info and support over the years. Thanks for the stimulating conversations as well. Rick, thanks for turning me on to my addiction. Thanks anyone involved for allowing me to go to Moab with y'all in '04, actually while I think of it thanks again Jefe for helping me get my coil back in on the trail in Moab. Have I got everyone? Too many to list - You know who you are! Thanks to my wife for not complaining too much over all the money I...
This was my DD explorer for the last two years........But with my recent purchase of my F250, i'm going to start wheeling the explorer with the family. My B2 is just not family friendly. So i am using the axles from the B2 and building up the Ex. Plan to run 35's and drive it to events vs trailering like i do with my B2. Here it is right after i bought, i had already removed the ground effects and put some 31's on it by the time i took the pic. 4" Lift and 32x11.50s 33x12.50s Little Ditch flex in my Yard had to Lengthened the front drive shaft to fit all that is left up front is to finish the bumper and trim some fender and drill to holes in the rear spring mount to frame and bleed the brakes. Still have to...
