MidnightRebel07's Sport Trac SAS, 351w Build on 37's I've been talking for years about doing this and since the transmission is on it's way out enough to where I can't drive it a long distance, the fan clutch died (can't drive it without fan) I parked it. I started tearing everything from the rear suspension to do the SOA. finished that yesterday (for the most part). Perches are tacked in (will finish welding them on with the Miller 252 at my custom truck clubs garage once I get everything mocked into place and a space opens up). Shocks are bolted into the top bolt hole for the sway bar (sway bar is removed). I cut the shock mounts off of the spring plates and will weld them onto the top of the axle later. I still need to get longer...
Just started working on getting my 94 Explorer off-road ready, so I'll be visiting the site a lot for questions and opinions. So far I'm on 31x10.5/15 Goodyear Wrangler Authorities and Pro Comp wheels. The tires hum when you get up to speed but it don't bother me none. They do rub when making a sharp turn, but a little trimming should fix that. Soon to come is a 4" lift and maybe 33s. In the meantime I'm gonna run a 2" lift with shackles and coil spacers. I'm hoping to get a flowmaster and some fog lights when I can. Also my KKM intake should arrive tomorrow. Plenty more to be done, but I think I'm off to a good start.
Well I'm picking up a '83 Jeep Wagoneer Dana 44 this weekend so I figured I'd start my build thread now and use this to ask for suggestions and questions I may have from here on out. Back story: I originally bought the Mountaineer for $300 to v8 swap my '90 Ranger but the condition of it won me over and the extra interior room did as well. So now I'm in the process of trying to sell my Ranger and using those funds to SAS the Mountaineer. Build plans: -5.5" EB coil springs -4.88 or 5.13 gears (still up in the air deciding what to go with this will be my DD to and from work and weekend off roader) -37" tires on 17 steel wheels -1 ton Chevy tie rod ends with custom DOM .250 wall tubing -lockers front and back (thinking Aussie front and...
Hello My brother and I bought this 1993 Ford Explorer Sport from a friend for $400 only 90K miles. He thought it was run down and sat in his drive way we put a $90 battery in and it works perfectly with Ice cold AC. We cleaned it up obviously. But we were wondering what we could do to make this thing badass? What are some cheap easy things we could do to start out? If any. Also on the inside the door handles are broken off i have no idea how but where could I get those? Or any ideas for a quick fix. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d4/carsonlaszaic12/E18DA825-ADD4-4B0D-8F58-90E1D1C318DA_zpsdsb8yg5h.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d4/carsonlaszaic12/3B8A8177-2D1A-4069-8D1E-BDCF2D0B826B_zpsdnfzsrng.jpg...
So i go Wednesday to get my axles. A guy has a d44 and rear 60 for 150$ not sure if they are lp or hp. He says they cM out of a 65 or 6o, but for the price its worth it i think. What do all of you think. I wont be doing any major wheeling just some weekend riding. Gonna keep as my dd for as long as i can.

So just bought the wife a new 2012 F150 FX4 Ecoboost she told me I can have the Lincoln Aviator and do whatever I want with it. So I am going to SAS this beast. Already started collecting parts. This time I am going full widths. Here is pic of the bosses new truck... Project Lazyboy 2003 Lincoln Aviator 4.6 DOHC 5 speed auto AWD. Plans for the truck 3/4 ton Chevy leafs rear. Ford 9.75 5.13 Detroit F150 High pinion Dana 44 5.13 electric locker Custom long arm set up with coilovers Electric shift BW1356 (should fit since the frame is wider and gas tank is on the pass side). https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwy4x3cOYlDxczF3c2pQUklOQXZwYThfcW15YVowbWhveVNR/view?usp=drivesdk so this is beast I bought for 3k gots some miles but seems to run ok except for being a slug need a little info about the 4.0 engines the front diff was taken out on transfer case remains. But it almost always shifts at 3k regardless of wot Maybe 4k if it's a good day and going up hill is a battle wot and it sits at 3k rpm before finally shifty down again after like 3 to 4 minutes
Serious Explorations Forum Members, I hardly ever log on here. I have a 2002 FORD Explorer XLT 4.0L 4x4. I have thought about lifting it for over a year now. I know that there are not many options. It is currently stock with 245/75r16 tires (31x10) on the stock wheels. I am looking into doing the new Rancho Quick lift loaded struts all around on it. I don't want to lift the rear (it sits stinkbug/rear high stock) I just want to level it out (maybe a hair nose high...I am from the west coast). I have seen a few members on here say good things about the btf spacers. I may eventually go that route but want to do one thing at a time. I've read about Brandon making control arms. Is anyone running a set of his uni uca's? Also is anyone...
Hey all, I have a 2007 XLT with 167K miles and climbing. I have been looking at turning my EX into a overland vehicle to run some pretty basic to moderate trails. That being said I have read quite a bit about the modifications people have done in the 4th gen forum. I have looked at the traxda spacers and the Rancho quick lift. As well as the BTF upper control arms. My question is what is the best way to go when it comes to the 4th gen suspension? Stock with spacers & BTF arms? Quick lift? Some other option? I have been thinking about doing the quick lifts with some 33" AT tires since this is my daily (for now). Right now I drive about 108 miles a day so I am looking for something durable. Also, any recommendations on how to add...
