Hi there - Being in my fifties, my eyes aren't as good as they used to be in my 20's or 30's. I find the Timberline headlights too dim. The high beams work great, but can't use those all the time. I noticed there was an off-road grill light kit. I'm not sure this is right option for me as I don't do much off-roading. I'm looking for brighter replacement LED bulbs or Headlamps? Has anyone done this? Do you know third-party sources?
I was having real difficulties seeing at night when I was on my way home from late afternoon car shows. The highway leading to our house has no lighting, and neither do our local roads. I'm 61 and have glaucoma, and a cataract in one eye. The LED headlights on our 2020 Explorer have been amazing and I don't have any issue driving the Explorer at night. I did some research on LED replacements for my '60 Dodge and Holley seemed to be the best light. The Holley light fits the original bucket with no modifications, and does not require an external ballast, they are plug and play. Enough words, I'll let the photo do the talking. :D Left is halogen, right is LED. This is lowbeam. High beam is unreal! I can't wait to try them out on the...
Hello all. I'm new here and new to Sport Trac's. 2 weeks ago I picked up a 2010 limited and the modding bug has already got me. I want to add a roof basket and some off road lighting. I want to have 4 pods up front and a 6" light bar for left, right, and rear. Does anyone see any issue with the way I plan on wiring things? I want as few wires as possible going up through the roof. I'm going to concentrically twist the power wires into a harness so it will only be the 5 wire power harness and the ground wire coming up through a dual wire waterproof pass through. Here is the specs on the wire I will be using. https://www.prowireusa.com/tefzel-amperage-chart Also where is a good spot to go through the firewall? Should I just go through...
Hi all, Just picked up a 2004 ST for my son and we upgraded the fog and headlights to LED's. Now when you turn on the fogs it activates the highbeams. If you switch back to low beam, the fogs go out. But you can have the low beams on without the fog lights switch pulled, as soon as you pull it though they go to high beam and you get a faint light in the high beams indicator. Would the Bambi mod fix this? All worked perfect until with added the headlight leds. I've used these brand leds on several vehicles with no issues prior Any help is appreciated!
I recently posted in the 1st gen forum but thought I may have better luck here. I purchased poison spyder's three wire 3/4" led that have a 50% power (indicator/parking light) wire, 100% power for turn signal wire, and a ground wire. I cut the wires to the 3157 bulb in my parking/turn signal lights on my 94 Navajo and wired them into the respected wires on the LED and changed the flasher and only the turn signal works. If I disconnect the turn signal it will work as an indicator but as soon as the turn signal is connected the indicator feature will not work. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
What is the general consensus for brighter 7440 reverse bulbs for a Gen 5 Explorer? I have a 2013 PIU. I do not need or demand LED, just something actually brighter that helps me SEE when backing up, not just look cool. I'm not interested in putting in aircraft landing lights, just changing the bulbs in the existing fixtures. There are so many to choose from, but seeing is believing. Thanks in advance!
Success story, I just did the LED Upgrade in my 07 sport trac's cluster. With the white face gauges plus 1 blown and weak bulbs inside it was only readable in absolute darkness. Driving around sunset, it was impossible to read. I wish I'd taken before photos but here's how it's looking on the brightest setting. There are no hotspots and it is very readable in any type of light where backlighting is necessary. With the dimmer, they work as intended. The dimmest setting with these LEDs is as bright as my OEM bulbs. There are plenty of guides and videos that tell you how to take your gauge cluster out to remove the bulbs. I used the part B8.4D-NWHP from superbrightleds.com. They fit in the cluster but are a bit loose. You have...
Cannot seem to find the answer to this......will it melt wires or the rubber that the heatsink is touching? I cannot get the entire bulb, wiring, and ballast inside the housing so I instead have the rubber covering directly cutout around the fan on the back of the led bulb and have a wire running out with the ballast that touches the heatsink. My concern is on my long road trip coming up that there will be melting and eventually a fire started..... Thank you for any information/feedback on this.
