Aftermarket lighting. Driving lights, fog lights, rock lights, HID, halogen. Make your Ford Explorer light up the night!!
ok, my first how to... Everyone said it couldn't be done, but I thought I would give it a shot. Try this at your own risk. Start off by removing the driver door pannel. 1. Remove 2 Phillips screws above door release handle 2. Pry out door release trim 3. Using a panel tool (or a flat screwdriver) pry around the bottom and sides of the door panel 4. Slide panel upward to remove. Once the pannel is removed you will see this... the back of keypad. It still attached to the driver door. There is a clip on the right side. Remove the clip the speaker needs to be removed to gain access to the other end of the keypad. You need to disconnect the green plug. the keypad, and the attached wires. The first piece of wire...

Informative posts on this board have recently helped me to perform an easy fix on my 1997 Eddie Bauer. A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I thought that the driver's side low beam headlight filament had burned out, because the low beam light would not come on and the message center gave us the "CHECK HEAD LAMPS" message. So I dutifully went to Advance Auto Parts and bought a new set of headlights, and proceeded to replace the current bulbs with the new ones. Only, the new driver's side bulb didn't correct the problem! After switching the positions of the bulbs, however, I was able to verify that neither the new nor the old bulbs had actaully been burned out--instead, it was as if the driver's side headlight was simply not getting...
I'm sure I'll think of more later, but here's a few "Frequently asked Questions" Q: Can I hook up fog lights or driving lights to the stock switch, even though they are higher wattage? A: Yes, and there are two different methods for this. The first is the easier method, the second is the preferred method. 1. You can simply hook up to the existing fog light wiring by splicing positive into positive, ground into ground. This is not preferred however, because if the lights you are installing is of a higher wattage then your stock wiring (and chances are 99% that they are). By doing so you run the risk of frying not only the wiring but also the switch, as well as overheating the wires near the light. 2. This is the preferred...
I have a 1998 Eddie Bauer with a 4.0 SOHC and my auto headlights quit working a couple of months ago. My regular headlights work fine but i can't the auto lights to come on at all. I have checked all the fuses under the dash and they are all good. I have been looking through some of the posts on the forum but the only thing that i can find is to check and see if the switch on the mirror is on, which was the first thing i did when it stopped working. The little green light on the rear view mirror comes on at night, so i guess that means the sensor is working, i think. I also bought two more rear view mirrors at the junk yard and hooked them both up but still no auto headlights. Is there a reset switch that i have to hit when i change...

Hello everyone, This isn't a write up but rather more of a product review! I made the mistake of going out and going crazy buying differant bulbs for my explorer till i got what i wanted.. I wanted a H.I.D. imitation.... now I CAN say, for the money i spent experimenting with differant bulbs, I could have easily bought a cheap REAL H.I.D. kit.. I'm going to stress this right now... if you want your lights to really look like HIDs... go out and buy a HID kit, your never going to get the perfect hid like light no matter what.... if you want to be close enough and have a nice tint to your lights,, read on. some frown upon these kind of HID simulator lights, but all i can say is to each there own prefferance... My experiment...
I'd like to do 2 big ass KC daylighters or something similar but I don't have a grille gaurd to mount them on yet so I'm just gona drill them into the front bumper but i'm scared how this will look. Does anyone have pictures of some KC's or similar lights drilled onto the front bumper?...does anyone think it would look amazingly horrid on my eddie?
i saw some headlights on ebay, they are a one piece design (corners and headlights). projectors ... come in black and chrome finish.. has anyone tried these yet? or seen them as well? this is the link.. they look pretty cool. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-2001-FORD-EXPLORER-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-1998-2000_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ025QQitemZ380089585428QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Based on a desire for brighter lights, I decided to install a heavy-duty headlight wiring harness on my ‘99. Currently I am running Silver Star 9007 bulbs. I decided to try this harness with the Silver Stars to see what improvement in light output would result; further, it also gives me the potential to run higher wattage lamps. I ordered the harness from http://www.suvlights.com/; the cost was only $43 with shipping to my door. I admit I was skeptical about ordering from a company that does not accept credit cards ( but remembered what a great company Zaino is ). I find Pay Pal a royal pain in the arse. But all went well and I got an E Mail confirmation about the order as well as shipping info. The link to USPS for tracking is a...
Ok so finally we have relief. I got a chance to talk to a ford technician and he got me the schematic for the wiring. He showed me how to bypass this damned module. All you need to do is cut 4 wires and reconnect them. The only thing u lose is ur computer will no longer tell you that one of ur headlights is no longer working. 1. Unplug module. 2. Cut the White/Light Green wire. aka. pin 1 3. Cut the Dark Blue/ white wire. aka. pin 11 4. Soldier and heat wrap wires. from step 2-3 5. Cut Dark Blue/Light Green Wire aka. pin 12 6. Cut Dark Green/ Orange Wire. aka pin 13 7. Soldier and heat wrap wires. from step 5-6. 8. Reconnect plug with all remaining wires to Lom. Worked perfectly for me. I assume this will help all of you that...
