Performance Lighting

Aftermarket lighting. Driving lights, fog lights, rock lights, HID, halogen. Make your Ford Explorer light up the night!!

Hey everybody.... I have a 2015 Explorer Sport w/halogen. I want to eventually get all lighting upgraded but figured to start small. I bought LED turn signals (3457 & 7440). And of course when I do a straight swap, I get the hyperflash thing. I don't want to use resistors because of the heat issue. I have heard that you can put in an LED flasher relay. I found it in the fuse block in the engine compartment. Has anyone tried this? I see others doing this on older vehicles but not sure if the new electric systems would accept this. I know I can get LEDs with built in resistors but they are pricey. Just wanted to save a few $$ if I can. Any ideas? Thanks.....
:eek:Just bought this...http://www.amazon.com/Sanmak-Lighting-Light-FLOOD-SM-6722/dp/B008CIXCJI/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&m=AZWMVLJERRRXC&qid=1346394059&s=generic&sr=1-15 and i was wondering if there was a different way to install an LED light bar? I dont have any wiring or anything.Just a harness and the light itself. help please???
Hey All, I'm a Volunteer EMT and want to install Mirror LEDs Like these http://www.whelen.com/images/_automotive/Lightheads/Mirror-Mounted-Super-LED/mbdc11jj.jpg but not sure if the mirrors changed at all from the 2003 (My Explorer) to the current model Explorers. If not then I'll be getting these bad boys but if they did change I'll have to find another way to mount LEDs on the mirror. I've also been looking at these https://www.soundoffsignal.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/11_0.jpg Any Thoughts?
Hey, I have a 2011 ford explorer limited and the 194bulbs on the front of the side not the 3157 turn signals on the front. I was putting in 3157 led's and they work but the sider lights wont light up. Tested the sockets to see if they;re getting electricity and they;re not. The bulb socket wire's are brand new aswell but they were replaced after i tried doing the led switch and they just stopped working. Could it be a fuse or a short somewhere?
No surprise here, but my 52" curved is lighting up my dash board and window. I have been thinking of ways to fix it and decided to search aroung the web for a bit. I came across these: http://www.justoffroad.org/home.html Has anyone bought from them? It basically the exact same thing I was going to build, just have to pay way more so that the curve doesnt need to be figured out.
Hey, so i have a 2011 ford explorer limited with the side view mirrors that are power/turn signal and pot light. I have the connector visible ontop of the door panel in the left top corner for the passanger side(Thats where i'm doing this) i need a wiring diagram or the plug diagram or something so i would know which cable to tap into so i could have power for my rear aftermarket pot light led bars(under the door) I've fitted them, spliced the cabled and extended them so they reach but i dont know which cable to solder it to/clip it to. or if anyone knows anywhere else to plug them in so when the pot lights turn on the rear led's turn on.(only when opening door/turning on the potlights)
Good evening all! I've installed LED lights on my truck already, however it was just an amazon relay harness that's worked very well! But I'm about to mount up some roof lights and all the harnesses I've searched for aren't long enough for where I'm wanting to mount. My question is this. What kind of wires do I need? Automotive wire doesn't seem the same as speaker wire. What's considered the best wires for relay harnesses? Any suggestions and advice would be very appreciated. I love learning this stuff!
While searching on Amazon I found some $19 LED pod lights so I decided to give them a try. I needed mounts so I decided to try the bottom of the windshield/ Cowl area. I drew up a bracket and cut them out. 20150929_111335 by Matthew Dresselhaus, on Flickr Not having a decent way to bend metal I resorted to a hammer and vice. The cut lines in the bracket help to line up the bend points. 20150929_111521 by Matthew Dresselhaus, on Flickr Two brackets mirror images of each other for each side of the truck. 20150929_134400 by Matthew Dresselhaus, on Flickr Lights mounted up. 20150929_175939 by Matthew Dresselhaus, on Flickr Hood clears all the way through normal motion. I still need to wire and aim them. If I...
Got my VVME HID kit delivered today. Well I thought I would go ahead and test them out. So I plugged them in as the instructions stated. Not real difficult just matched up the connectors and went to turn them on and got nothing. Tried both bulb sets with both ballasts and both headlight side. Nothing, not even a flicker. I have read nothing but good things other than lengthy shipping at times from vvme. Any suggestions??? http://www.vvme.com/
Hello all, First time on the forum and hoping some fellow members can help me out with a dilemma I'm having. My father-in-law has a 2015 Explorer Sport thats fully loaded. He wanted aftermarket HID's to help him see better at night. He asked if I could install them for him as every car I own has the same kits in them. So. he ordered the kit for the headlight and foglights from DDM Tuning. Everything came in, everything went in without a hitch. He then told me he had ordered a set of daytime run lights(or DRL's) that he wanted installed as well. This is how the nightmare started... Where do I begin? Well, the lights were "universal 6-LED" drl's. I mounted them under the bumper and all looked great. Time to run the wires. Well, the...
So I have been eying up LED light bars for a while now. While I like the ones mounted towards the windshield, theres no way im drilling into the pillars to install. So i came up with a mounting system that installs under the front roof rack brackets. There is NO drilling into the body required. In addition to the brackets, i made a bolt in bar with mounting tabs so i could mount different style of lights on if i so choose to. In Addition, ive made a custom switch panel that mounts over the factory garage door opener in the overhead console. Anyway, heres a bunch of pictures
