Tires & Wheels

Want to know what size tire or wheel combo will work with your Ford Explorer or Ranger based vehicle? Interested in Beadlocks or Dubs? Learn all about them here.
I've decided that I want to go with a vintage theme for the Explorer (I didn't plan it that way. It just seems every cosmetic piece I've ordered is from older trucks. Ford emblem from a 30's truck. V8 emblems from a 40's ect.) So I was thinking reproduction wheels and decided on Magnum 500s like came on the Boss 429. I still plan to use 33x12.50 15's on the wheels. I just want to make sure they will fit. Here is a link to the 15x10's, they can also be ordered in 8in wide if the backspacing is too much with the 10in. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&Ntt=magnum+500+wheels+&N=0&part=WVI%2D54%2D5012052&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch Thanks again.
Time to replace the Dunlop Radial Rovers on the '96 XLT 4x4. The Ex is all stock and is the wifes daily driver. The Dunlops were a good tire but wore out way too fast. I would like a tire for her that is fairly quiet, comfortable and good in the rain. The size will remain the stock 235/75-15. 90% of the driving will be on road but we have a cabin in snow country and it has a fairly steep drive that does not get plowed. I would need something that does pretty good in soft snow. And, of course I would like to get about 40k miles out of this wonder tire. What are your recommendations? Keep in mind that tirerack won't sell me a HT. All they say they can sell me is the AT. Do I stick with AT or is there a HT that will fit the...
I'm sure you get this a lot but I need help: I started on the now INFAMOUS Firestone Wilderness A/Ts but then Mr. Nasser was nice enough to buy me a brand new set of Pirelli Scorpion A/Ts. The Scorpions are ok. I know they are an agressive tread - and boy do they sound like it. I can handle the noise, I just think they are not as good in the snow as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong though - they are way better than the Firestones were. This is what I've had recommended to me: BF Goodrich/Michelin Bridgstone Dueler Cooper Discoverer Les Schwab Wild Country What do you think? (btw, they are 255 70 16s for a 99 Explorer Sport - 2Dr) I'm heading over to tirerack next to read reviews :) Thanks! edit: oh, one more thing...
After endless searching of the archives I was unable to come up with an answer to my dilemma, or should I say one of my dilemmae (dilemmas? dilemmage)? First a bit of history Not a member of the Firestone tire club, I picked the wrong time to wear out my Goodyear Wrangler RT/S's. ALso, the RT/Ss are just a bit on the small size diameter wise (235/75-15). I am not an off roader and drive about an hour to work each day, so I am on what passes for a freeway here in Philly a lot. I do tow my boat and have to use some hideous launch ramps occasionally strewn with water, seaweed, mud, etc. at times. So, the questions: Size first: I want to go slightly larger than stock to better fill the wheelwells, and don't really feel like buying a...
I want to run 32x1150 BFG MT's. Initially I planned on the 4"trailmaster. Now I think I'll start with a 2" body lift and when the funds come in I'll get the suspension. Will 32's run with a 2" body lift. Oh yeah and one other thing. I was looking in one of my 4x4 mags and saw a listing for the 4" Trailmaster at $666. Do any of you know how much shipping costs for something like that, I'm in CA.
Sorry for asking this question thats probably been answered, but in the lift and max tire size thread for a 3in body lift and a 1-2 suspension lift, it says you can use 33x12.5 on 15x8, and you may need to do minor fender trimming, but in another thread, it says with a 3in body lift and a 1-2 suspension lift, you can fit 33x12.5 on 15x8 just fine, and you can put on 35x12.5 on 15x8 with just minor fender trimming. I was going to do a 3-3.5 in body lift and a tt and lift the back 2 in with new shackels, si will i be able to fit the 35x12.5 with no fender trimming? I dont want to have to cut up my explorer. Could i use 15x10 wheels? so my tires dont look like donuts :p So... what should i do?!? I'm a little confused...
I've looked throught the stickied thread and others but didn't see anything quite like what I want to know. I have 2" Skyjacker lift coils in the front and Warrior shackles and Pro Comps AALs in the rear, so about 2-2.5" all around. How much trimming would I have to do to fit 33s (33x12.50x15)? I would like to use a 15x10 wheel with 3.5"-3.75" backspacing. But, I'm on a budget and would use 15x8 wheels if I found a good deal used. I was going to go with 32x11.50s on my stock wheels and trim a little, but deals on good used 33s come up a lot more often. If anyone has any pics of trimming, I'd like to see them.
Yet Another 20" wheel Thread - '02 & '03 Explorers! need suggestions Hey guys, first of all, thanks for takin a look at this post. Its my first post on this board and I am seroiusly considering an 02 or 03 Explorer, at least XLT, 4.6 V8, 4WD etc. Where I live I wont have a need for traditional 'off-road' tires. I want the look of 20's but I need the capability of kicking it in 4WD to get around. Granted, the 20s will probably only be non-winter tires. Do you think 20s on a 3rd Gen Explorer that ISNT lowered looks silly? I love the way it looks lowered, but I dont think thats a big option for me as I need to be able to swap to my stock tires/wheels for road trips out west and whatnot (Colorado). As I said, I am not huge in to...
any body used these, think i should go for them? looking for some 32" tires for cheep. going on 99 XLT with 2" shackles. only go mudding and snow trails. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/32-11-50-R-15-MT-NEW-TIRES-JEEP-MUD-TRUCK-SNOW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ66473QQihZ012QQitemZ220177174130QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
