...i just got the new off-road adventures from 4wheelparts in the mail (jan, 08 issue)...besides the canfield '07 truck and jeepfest with tons of pics and with all the new goodies coming out, they have a pretty good article on their new pro comp Xtreme m/t (XM/T)crossover tire...for blacktop, sand, rock, and mud...;) ...they took this tire on a 12,000 mile trip including places like moab and san filipe in baja...if you are looking for info on this tire, it is pretty much all there including disection's of the tire and info on the sipping, compound, etc, with comparison to how it is so much better than the pro comp Xterrain's... heres the link...;) http://oramagazine.com/pastIssues/0108-issue/index.asp?article=rubber
Anyone running the new pro comp xtreme m/t's? I am on pro comp x-terrains now and like them alot. I will be looking to get new skins at the end of this summer and making the jump to 35's. I really like the look of the new xtreme m/t's but have not found many reviews on them yet. I did find this one: http://www.offroaders.com/tech/AT-MT-Tires/Pro-Comp-Xtreme-MT.htm But would rather get input first hand from someone who ownes a set. Any feedback would be great. Thanks JIGA
Well I did it... Ordered the 35x12.50 Xterrains on 15x10 Rock Crawlers today. I expect them in about a week. As far as I know, no one else has them here yet, so I'll keep you all posted. Price was great compared to other choices (Goodyear, BFG and Procomps MT) - $853 shipped including mounting, balancing, lugs, caps and 30,000 mile unconditional warranty. Hope they're as good as I've been hearing! Jon
So I just purchased a 2003 Explorer XLS (my first explorer!), anyways, it just has plastic "chrome" hub caps over the wheels, and I've already broken one of the holders for the snap clips. I am in process of saving for new wheels (and looking for some used ones), but I wanted to see if there was a way to take off the plastic chrome hub caps and paint my existing wheels...only problem is that then there is no cover over the hub nut, do they make a cover for this? Just curious, thanks! If anyone has other suggestions they are welcome too!
Just got new tires on the Mounty (235/65-18). Had it narrowed it down to these, within a few dollars of each other with rebates: a. Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season Plus (106H SL) b. Yokohama YK-HTX (110T XL) Since I tow a 5200 lbs camper, the salesguy recommended the XL rated Yokohama. I left with the tires at 36psi (as I usually do). First pull with the trailer, things felt a bit loose. Then I noticed the XL tires get their max rating at 50psi. I didn't think it would matter, since my previous BFG LongTrails (SL tires) were very secure at 36psi. --> So, what do people do with XL or LT rated tires? Do you keep them at 36 for normal driving, then pump them up when towing (or hauling a load)? Or do you keep them at the...
Hey Rich here, pretty new to the forum, but I have been looking at the XD series wheels by AMC. I'm not to sure if they are of good quality or if there are any better wheels out there for cheaper. Also i have no idea about tires and their sizes and what brands are good and stuff like that.
I was checking the specs on several different tires today and I discovered that the 33x12.50 x-terrains have the following measurements: Diameter 31.4". Overall width 10.9", and tread width 9.9". This is about the same as most 32" tires. SO will they fit my navajo with my 2" suspension lift? Is anyone running a 32" tire with those specs (or close) and a 2" lift?
interesting concept here, alright i have 31's on right now, well the handling is horrible and there have been a few events where i have almost lost my explorer because i had to maneveur my way out of a bad situation, and i was thinking of getting the xspec suspension and would i still be able to fit the 31's for a lil bit, and later get the cobra r's and tires? wut is everybody's suggestion? cuz i can get the lowered suspension kit now, and i would only have to wait a month or two to get the wheels and tires
