Ok I don't know a lot about tires, but I had one of the Explorers with the good ol' Wilderness tires, and I got them replaced with the Wranglers, and I have to say I miss hte old Firestones a lot. The Wranglers in my opinion reall suck. Maybe its just my suspension which is getting too loose, but the body rolls like crazy, and when going around turns it feels like I am losing control of the car (Tires pointed one way, car wanting to go another way) . What's a good small tire for the Explorer? I don't want off-road, I want good gas mileage, and small tires for less rotational mass ;)
hey guys just a quick question. i have a set of MT: Claws on my 94 and its gettin close to that time of replacent :( very hard on the wallet. a buddy of mine is lowering his 92 chevy back down and he said he'd sell me his set (Wrangler MT/R) for a good price. id like to know what ya'll think ive ran into some that say they suck, and some that love them. what about ya'll?
i am in the process of lifting my X but i can't do it without new tires! (well i can but my truck would look ridiculous on stock tires) i am looking for some wrangler MT/R's below $150 each. i am mounting them on some black rock crawlers... does n e one have a website that has cheap offroad tires? what tires do ya'll reccomend? thanx:)
So I did a lot of looking around for the right sized tires to get on my 2005 ford explorer xlt and got a lot of mixed reviews as to how big of tires I can get. Went to Walmart and bought the Goodyear Wrangler Authority tires and lets just say they are awesome. They really grip the road and handle great in the rain. Haven't gotten a chance to take it in mud or anything like that yet. Now to the good part. The tire size that i bought was 245/75/16 and the only tire that rubbed was the front driver side tire and it rubbed pretty good but a good shave down of the plastic wheel-well guard fixed it right up. If anyone wants to know how they look on an explorer let me know and i'll throw some pics up.
Hey, I am looking to get a pair of new tires. I am thinking about a set of Goodyear Wrangler AT/S. first off, whats the largets size i can fit on a stock 95 with 16" rims? I have 255/70R16 wilderness AT right now. Also overall how satisfied have people been with this tire? I like the Wilderness AT tires so far (like 1,500 miles of driving) but since it's recalled why not get free new tires, right?! i used to have BFG Long Trail T/A on my old 15" rims, they were nice, but the Wrangler AT/S looks more agressive. I will be doing A LOT of snow driving and thught maybe the AT/S would work well. Please give me your thoughts/ideas!
My older car has a spare tire that has never been used since 1993. I have always hit it to see if it has air but have never added air in 12 years and I just checked the air pressure and its 27 lbs. It has been in the trunk with a rug cover on it since new. I am pretty tire savy and would never use any older tire on the freeway but the car only gets used about 30-50 miles a week if that on 25-45MPH roads. Question is would you put this tire on if it was your car? A lot of guys ( at the coffee shop) LOL are saying YES!
Ok, I know they are rough, but picture them polished with dark grey or flat black on the low spots. The reason I'm asking if they will work on my Explorer is because he gives a really weird measurement for the lug size. Thanks for your help, and if they don't fit, does anyone know if reproductions are being made? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4551872051&category=34209
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=375180 These rims are soon going to be given to me for free because they will be no longer able to fit on this jeep because he is getting new wider axles and it has a different bolt pattern but because they fit on my explorer i am thinking about putting them on, BUT i am thinking that they might look dumb for 2 reasons: 1>The rims are the same size as explorer rims(15",16" i have no clue too lazy to go look) so if you have upgraded rims on and they aren't atleast 18s they will look really dumb because they are too small 2>Eagle Alloys are cheap so everyone will think I cant afford bigger rims or a good brand of rims... (PS-within 2 months those 35s on there will be...
