After over 3 years running Kumho muds, I finally made a switch to Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. Stayed the same size, 33x12.50x15. I was looking to move from muds to ATs. These are classed as ATs, but they're closer to a mud, in my opinion. Love the look of them, and haven't heard a bad thing from anyone who has run them. Toyota guys in particular seem to LOVE the damn things, and give them very high marks for driving in the snow. With the winter bearing down on us north east guys, I'll get to test this claim soon enough. I really dig the look so far, time will tell how they perform. Here's a couple of crummy night pictures until I can get some daylight shots. EDIT: Better photos added.
Welcome! This is the place to ask all your questions about Tires and Wheels. Before you start posting though, follow these guidelines: Rules: -Search First (here ) -Look in the Stickies for information That's it! Not too hard. Most of the time you'll find your answer in the search phase. Try to keep your search somewhat broad to get more hits. Don't give up after one or two tries. IMPORTANT: If you are going to post about tire/wheel fitment (i.e. I want to know if 32s will fit with a TT and shackles or even 20's and 22's), bolt pattern, and other things that are talked about constantly in this forum, please be aware that I may delete your post if I feel the need. Too much space is wasted for asking the same...
Hi there. I just bought a 1994 Explorer Sport 4x4 loaded. I think it has all the toys in it. Anyways, it needs tires. They will pass inspection but won't be good for a New Hampshire winter. I have seen that the largest tires you can get without rubbing for this is a 30x9.5. Well my question is what is the difference between that and the 235/75R15's that I have on it now? I would like a bigger tire for some added ground clearance. Is there a difference? Anything else that would be useful, please let me know. Oh, what tires would you guys recomend? Snowy winters, off-road on snowmobile trails during rebuiling months. Let me know what you think. Thanks!!!
Just bought a set of 33's and have a few impressions. They are very very quiet on the highway. They balanced very easily, and look very nice. As far as treadwear i havent had them for more than a few hundred miles. Anyone heard anything positive or negative about these tires??? They are very cheap too at about 120$ a tire for 33's. They look alot like the maxxis buckshot mudders...
Whats up fellas? I am new to this board and I am sure this question has already been addressed. But here it goes again: What is the Maximum oversize tire to fit on the stock 16" rim of my 2002 4wd? I am wanting to go with BFG A/t's. Another possibility is what is the largest tire/rim recomendation for minimal rubbing WITHOUT LIFTING. Thanks
I'm looking to put a set of BFG KO2s on my 2013 Explorer XLT. I have the stock 245/60R18s on there now. The shop is saying go with the 255/55R18, but the one thread I found ( http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=431021 ) has a cryptic comment. "as tough as some of these 105 load rated tires are I'd worry more about aspect ratio than I would plys. as in - anything lower than say the 60 ratio (assuming stock 18's) then I would worry about punctures as the side wall stiffness wouldn't allow the tire to deform nearly as much." Does any on have KO2s on the Gen 5? If so what size? Are the 55s too wide? Can anyone clarify why not go go less than a 60? Thanks, stefan
