Sometimes things don't always go as planned. Post pictures and stories of your best...or worst mishaps here.
so last night im driving in my 99 explorer xlt with this girl. were passing an ice cream place and theres a bunch of people out front and someone yells my name so i look over and dont see who it was so i just look back in front of me, and by that time everyone in front of me is slamming on their brakes for some reason so i slam on mine and skid into the back of a ranger. all i could say as soon as it happened was "why didnt you say anything?" then i got out and talked to the guy, we made sure we were all ok and we left. my grill, hood, left quarter panel, and light are all shot. what do you think i should do? my plan so far is to buy all the stuff off of trucks people are parting out and getting it all painted. how much do you think i...
All in the same night..... -The Explorer Quiz Time..What happens when your left front sidewall collapses when your turning sharply right at a decent speed? I never even had a chance, hit a curb then flew and smack a tree. So far here is the damage... I pretty much obliterated my left front Broken- Bumper, Hood bent, Left front fender. Fog light/driving light/ high beam casings. Completely Destroyed - Tire, wheel, Left front spindle, Air Dam, Turn signal. -The Girl I was running on about 2 hours of sleep, had not eaten anything in two days, had been *****ed at constantly by my parents and kicked out the night before. I just was not in the mood to deal with anything.. I went to pick up a girl I was invloved with and she...
To both ease congestion and help the environment, Darling said that new funding will be made available for road-pricing schemes around the country, with tenders invited to test the technology. From 2009 there will be a "major reform" of the regime for taxing cars. This will involve new bands of vehicle excise duty (VED) for newly manufactured low-emitting cars. From April 2010, there will be no VED,(vehicle exise duty) in a car's first year if it emits less than 130 grammes per kilometre of CO2. The most polluting cars will be charged a higher tax rate in the first year - already dubbed the "showroom tax". (thats cars above 190 grames-US!) Also, all Porsch, Rrange Rover, most Saabs, some Volvos, Some Vws, some- well all brands...
I was driving on a dirt road, must have been used with tractors cause it was real bumpy. Came back home and noticed it sounded slightly louder, along with metal banging. Looked under and the tailpipe was broken cleanly right behind the resonator. I'd be sad about this, but it actually sounds better now. I'm assuming it's illegal to drive with no tailpipe, but I hope not. Here's a photo of the resonator: https://i.imgur.com/sivYpjM.jpg I was thinking of replacing the muffler anyway, so I guess this is an option.
I got a call from my neighbor asking if I can stop by his shop on my way home... I get there and see that they got a 1/2 ton chevy pickup on the car trailer, but it went too far.. the front tires went right off the end of the trailer. We hooked up the chain and attempted to pull the truck back onto the trailer. Intead of pulling the truck onto the trailer I pulled the truck on the trailer and the dodge pickup it was connected to while the dodge was in park with the e-brake on. We then tried it again, this time with the driver of the dodge holding the brakes, I just spun 3 tires (rear locker only). At this point it was time for rue-golberg to appear. We had someone get in the pickup and hold the brakes, we then put a floor...
Hi everybody, been a while since I've posted, but wanted to give an update on my Ford Explorer journey. After the 2nd full rebuild on my 98, it decided the pistons and valves needed a rendezvous. I thought I had done everything right.... I really did fool myself into thinking I could make this thing run for another 50,000 miles if I was meticulous enough with the details. NOPE! 9000 miles and exactly one year to the date, I am again left with a pile of crap... This is last straw. I'm either sourcing a V8 OHV engine and hope most of the parts I wasted money on in my SOHC fit (Valves, non-cam orientated specific parts in the main block), or I get a cheap car to get me by until I can afford something better. I've worked my ass off on...
They may as well call this forum Dannyboy. So last night we went out for a little road trip and stopped downtown for a few ****tails and after putting nearly 100 miles on the beast and the maiden voyage on the HWY with the 35s I jumped on the brakes being a little goofy right in front of the house and wouldn't ya know the gal darn drive shaft popped right out. Isn't that a son of a gun, oh well, I slept it off and had her running about an hour later.
