Hey Jwrezz! I see you are from Parsippany. My buddies and I head there almost every weekend. We're from rockaway and the trails are up in the highlands area of sussex. We always enjoy bringing new people along so if you would like to come with us it can definitely be arranged. There is a little of everything up there including one BIG NASTY mudhole

If you're from Rockaway, do you hit Charlottsburg/Splitrock trails? That used to be my regular place to wheel. Haven't been in for over a year now tho.

Well the trails near splitrock have gotten a little sketchy if you know what I mean. Splitrock has it's own security now and they have been cracking down on off-roading lately. They don't even let people swim in the water there anymore. It was all because of this big liability case that was brought up awhile ago. Still a bunch of other trails though!

Yeah, I remember the guy dying back there a couple years back I guess it was. "Their own security"? Like are they Newark water shed guys, or Morris county parks police, private? I had heard so many rumors about it, but never was hassled by any one. Just other wheelers telling me to "watch out". Last time I was in, maybe 1.5 years ago, I even went to the Charlottsburg dam, and had no issues. I'm sure now a days it's a different ballgame tho. I know if you enter/exit at the 23/Greenpond road railroad tracks there were always security guards around there. I usually enter/exit from either the Camp Marcella, or Charlottsburg road by the stables in Boonton.

Didn't they just open it up to fishing if you had a license a couple years back? I remember that being a big thing. Lots of guys started going in just to fish, and that made it a bit easier on us wheelers.

Yep they did open up splitrock to fishing and people are always in there with canoe's and small boats. I know they set up a lot of gates recently that are padlocked. The security around splitrock is private but the local police has some racing quads that we have seen go into the woods. I have been just heading up north near layton. It's a little bit of a drive but It's definitely worth it and nobody bothers you at all. We actually plan on heading there tomorrow night with a couple trucks. Not sure exactly what time though.

Hey guys, it looks like I'm out for next weekend. I have to work Saturday and part of Sunday. Bummer, I was looking forward to seeing something other than sand and mud for a change. Oh well maybe next time.

So who is actually in for some rocks and trails this weekend? Im planning on going regardless with a couple local friends. Still planning on the Stateline Diner at 1000the on Saturday.

I can't say I'm in, but if you guys are going, and I can meet up w/ ya sometime late morning, early afternoon, I will. AFter the diner, where's the spot where you go in? Can you point it on a map, or have gps co-ords?

Well it wa just Truck and I and a local friend up there today but what a blast. Felt good to put some flex on the Ex's suspension for once. Maybe next time some more EF guys will come along. We barely scratched the surface of the trails up there! For those that didn't get out enjoy!
