Nitrous 1994 Explorer

About a month ago I got Nitrous on my 1994 Explorer and I've been waiting to try it out at the track. Wednesday was the first Test & Tune night at Bandimere Speedway. Currently spraying 50 HP with NGK TR6 spark plugs. After a couple runs the spark plugs looked great. Probably gonna try a 75 shot sometime soon. I gotta thank user jd4242 for his help on getting the kit installed.

Up here at 5800 feet above sea level, cars run a lot slower. With only a KKM intake and Dynomax muffer my fastest run ever was 19.30 at 70 mph.

Here at the time slips

Quite a big drop in ET and good MPH gain. This kit was definatly worth it whether it's racing or just messing around on the streets.

How much hp increase could i get with the 422 cam and 95tm heads without the nitrous? if I'm at 10:1 compression would i need to run 91 all the time?
You could get close to 200 RWHP..

Yea 90+ gas

That much around town all the time would be awesome. The better mpg with the UDP would be really nice filling up with 91 all the time. As long as the cam doesnt hurt the mpg too much

It probably would help mpg,the 10:1 would for sure..you may get away with 89 if your just regular driving, not getting on it or climbing step hills..90+ for sure on track though

Will i still be able to pass emissions here in Colorado?

I cant say for 100%,i dont know anyone thats had it tested..

The 410 has passed emissions and its very similar to the 422,has same lift on intake i believe. .both cams have 0 overlap so they both sould really pass

Is that 200 RWHP at sea level or up here at 5800ft?
Sea level and being you 4x4 it will be little lower, probably more 180ish....200 RWHP is more for a 4x2 at sea level

Jd, do you have a bottle heater for your nitrous bottle?

I do not currently . .i do have a gauge on the bottle and a torch..i typically dont do enough back to back runs or is it cold enough here..

I'll most likely just get a bottle heater. I don't feel comfortable heating it with a torch.
Ideal pressure is around 900 psi correct?

950-1,000 dont think altitude matters

I wanted to replace the valve cover gaskets and decided to paint them and the throttle body while I had them out. I want polish the the upper intake manifold but haven't done that just yet

Jd,
Thinking about making or buying a throttle body spacer, drill into it, and sticking the NX shark nozzle in it or a more stealthier approach and not to having to drill into the intake tube. Any benefits to this? How did you make yours out of a spare fuel rail?

No i use a tb spacer as well..dont know if there is any real benefits but definitely cleaner

Bottle pessure gauge and adapter came today. Glad to finally have one. Hope knowing bottle pressure and how much it needs to be heated up on cool nights will hopefully improved ETs and/or consistency.

Headed out to Julesburg Dragstrip on Saturday for the season opening test and tune day. The track is about 2300 feet lower than Bandimere so hoping to take advantage of that and the cool weather they're suppose to have. Will post ET's on Saturday.

Fun day at the track. Total of seven runs. Had some trouble early on on with traction. First three runs I was spinning pretty badly at launch which i think had to do with getting water on my tires when trying to get around the burnout box. My previous best ET at was 16.27 at 83 MPH. The four solid runs I ran 16.084, 16.080, 16.24, and 16.25. Below I posted the timeslips, the 3rd one to the right had my best 60' foot time of 1.981 which could've been a 15 second run if i hadn't missed 3rd gear
