What do you all think about a hood mount? I can't decide whether it looks better on the roof or not.

Definitely on the roof, maybe even to the front of the roof rack instead of drilling holes in the roof.

Definitely the roof and I would mount it on the rack. That will get the lights a little higher so they can project a little further down the trail.

2002 4x4 XLT
Made a few mods to improve appearance, and others for camping. I'm not a super flashy mod kinda guy.
Sorry the pictures are blurry, there is sand behind the lens on my phone.

- swapped the old wheels out for newer model explorer wheels (found them on Craigslist for $150!)
IMG_3275_zpsihdqyjyt.jpg

- swapped the 3rd gen mirrors for 4th gen mirrors (ebay $100)
IMG_3268_zpsj3sfg6nw.jpg

- added Rola Roof Rack for storage and mounted/wired 2 LED spots ($180 + $50)

- 4x4 emblems are from eBay, but it looks almost stock. ($4?)
IMG_3269_zps2jeoyvz3.jpg

- seats folded down, with a fitness mat laid over top (so that carpeting doesn't absorb water/mud/dirt/dog smell) (used sporting goods store $20) Loaded up and ready to go with my best pal, Rutledge. If I can't find a place to set up my tent/cot/hammock then I can throw everything on the roof rack and sleep inside the truck. It's got enough room for the both of us.

- installed a DoubleDin touch screen Nav system/ DVD player (pulled from my old truck)

I plan on swapping the 4th gen tail lights in. I've already got them, but haven't gotten around to figuring out how to rewire them.

The newer model wheels and the 4th gen mirrors by far made the most impact on making this look newer than a 2002.

What brand head unit is that

Just some recent pics since i installed the lift and 33s

How tight are those 15s against the caliper bracket and steering knuckle? Also how much lift are you going to use

Roof rack and lights installed, need to get the wiring done.

How are you on lift height with that combo? I have same spacers and tires, but also body lift. Not sure if I wanna just not do body lift or do 1.5 inch or maybe even 3". How do you like that height, plan on going any higher?

Mounted a set of 285/70 r17 BFG on the 3rd gen! No rubbing on just BTF 2" front and 1.5" rear spacers. Just a bit of trimming on the front of the fender well.

I thought I'd finally post in here. Nothing special, but I'm just getting started. 4 piece billet grille, crazy bright LED fogs (a new one is on the way due to a defect)

Spyder LED tails and license plate lights,

LED interior and puddle lights (they light it up like its daytime. Here's the link http://www.hidextra.com/razir-festoon-2-smd-5050-36mm-white-pair/

4th gen mirrors as well. Plans for the near future include: taillight and 3rd brake light tints and 3rd brake light LED swap, LED pods in for spot fog lights behind fog light covers (I got rid of faded plastic and made my own aluminum mounts, so it is empty behind the billets), stealth LED bar behind upper or lower grille (all controlled with a 3- gang switch from Amazon), flush- mounted LED switch- controlled reverse lights (where I dented the rear bumper I'm gonna cut out holes for them) possible can lights and tow hooks (thanks to the threads out there), and hopefully a full brush guard protecting black headlight assemblies. Also paint is needed badly and I have typical rusts over rear wheels.

Does anyone have 275/55/r20's on a 3rd gen?

I have 285/50-20s on a 3rd gen. Had to use 5/16 spacers to get suspension clearance and they rub the fender liners. Had to use a heat gun to make the proper clearance.

Have 16x,x.. miles on this 05. I keep telling myself every year that I will buy a new car, but can't seem to part ways with this one.

At the time all I had was 2"spacer up front and 1.5" rear. I did trim the front inner fender a bit though
