check engine light won't stay on

Hi guys my cel doesn't stay on even though at the very least there's a egr code after it starts it stays on for ruffly 3secs then goes out and stays out any ideas what could cause this thanks in advance

Some vehicles will set the code and then over time it will be over ridden and not stay on constantly, but the code will be stored in the ECU until it is cleared.

Ok thank you I'll will look into that not sure y I didn't think to try that yet lol
